The storm may have passed — but it’s worth checking what it left behind. 🌧️🏠

From ground level, take a quick look for slipped or missing tiles, loose ridge tiles, damaged flashing, sagging guttering or debris sitting on the roof.

Inside the home, keep an eye out for any new damp patches, staining or signs of water getting in.

Not every bit of storm damage is obvious straight away, so spotting the warning signs early can make a big difference.

Most importantly, don’t climb onto the roof yourself. If something looks wrong, get it checked safely.

When did you last take a proper look at your chimney? 🏠

Chimneys create some of the most vulnerable junctions on a roof, and problems don’t always start with the tiles themselves.

Cracked mortar, damaged flashing or worn leadwork can all give rainwater a way in — even when the surrounding roof looks perfectly fine.

That’s why identifying where a leak is actually coming from is so important.

If you’ve noticed damp, staining or signs of water ingress around a chimney, it’s worth getting it checked before the problem gets worse.

Do you always need scaffolding for a roof repair? 🏠🔨

Not necessarily.

Whether scaffolding is needed depends on the height of the property, where the problem is located, the type of repair and, most importantly, how the area can be accessed safely.

Some smaller repairs may be possible using alternative access methods, while others will still require scaffolding even if the repair itself is relatively minor.

The priority should always be carrying out the work safely and properly — not simply choosing the quickest option.

Why do my gutters overflow even when they don’t look blocked? 🌧️🏠

A blockage isn’t always the cause.

Overflowing gutters can also be caused by sagging sections, poor alignment, damaged joints, undersized guttering or a downpipe that isn’t draining properly.

When rainwater can’t flow away as it should, it can spill over the edges and start affecting fascias, soffits and the walls below.

If your gutters are overflowing every time it rains, even though they look clear, it’s worth getting the system checked.
