A sketch of the main living space within Openeight’s current residential penthouse project.

Design work on this scheme first began back in 2019, before it was sadly put on hold during the Covid lockdown. In the years that followed, the prospect of seeing the project come to life seemed increasingly uncertain — but the ambition never disappeared.

Earlier this year, we were delighted to receive the go-ahead for Stage 4 technical design. After such a long journey, we’re excited to see the project moving forward once again and look forward to watching this vision become a reality in 2027.

Located at the rear of the site, the new-build structure creates a home work space that doubles as guest accommodation for the main house.

The structure is one of several within Openeight's listed building application, granted consent earlier this year.

The drawing shows the blind arcading with granite shafts, Portland stone dressings and fish scale roof tiles.

Built in 1884, the Mausoleum is currently on the Buildings at Risk register, but hopefully with better days ahead.
