Another returning student 🥹🧵✨
She first joined me during one of our three-day summer workshops with Leeanna’s Wish, so it was honestly amazing to see how much she had remembered when she came back.
I asked her if she remembered how to thread the sewing machine and she said yes — and she really did. Every step. No reminding needed. 👏🏾
She knew exactly what she wanted to make, got completely stuck into her project, and by the end she was SO proud of what she had achieved.
What I loved just as much was the energy she brought into the room. She was friendly, kind, positive with the other students, and we had such lovely conversations about all the things she enjoys — from dance to fashion and being creative. She told me fashion is one of her favourite things and that she’d love to design, which was so lovely to hear. 💕
I think one of the reasons the students enjoy SewCiety School so much is because it’s a calm, small-group space where they can just create.
There’s no pressure to make the same thing as everyone else. You choose your project, you choose your style, you make the decisions — I’m simply there to teach, guide and help bring your idea to life.
And the students really do encourage each other along the way. 🫶🏾
Being a child or teenager can come with enough pressure already, so I love that this can be a space where they can relax, be themselves, try something new and create without judgement.
And at the end of it all, they get to walk away with something they can actually wear and proudly say…
“I made this.” 🥹✨
