Still a bit cold to be out in the workshop but finally got around to solving a little problem I've been meaning to sort for ages....
I'm getting back into live music a bit more and trying to make my open-mic rig more compact and easy to set up for my woodwind kit.
But most open mic setups aren't going to be easily adapted to setting up a Clarinet quickly and effectively, so I use a special pickup mounted in the instrument, but this needs power and I find I need local monitoring if I'm playing alongside louder instruments. This has meant all sorts of cables and kit, which gets a bit much to set up for 3 or 4 songs.
So, it's time to reintroduce my old Trace Acoustic Amp to live use again (which provides the necessary phantom power for the pickup and a beautifully rich tone, a range of reverbs and plenty of poke for stage monitoring and front of house sound).
So now, all I need is one power point and I'm ready to roll!
But then I also need to take my instrument stand which is in two sections and doesn't all fit into my Clarinet box...hmmm.
So today I made a simple prototype Clarinet stand adaptor fixed to the top of the amp, which doubles as a power cord tidy. Now I just have the amp and the instrument box to carry and everything is self contained and quick to set up!
Happy days!
