What started as me learning to set up my own guitars, grew to friends guitars, and then into a business. I have a keen eye for detail but always striving to learn more about guitars and luthiery. Check this out!!! 56 Les Paul in for a re fret. Yuuki
P-G-V worked some absolute magic on this thing! When I first saw it… it was a basket case, all kinds of messed up. Make sure you check out his page to see what was done. Not blowing smoke up his arse, but honestly the restoration work he’s done on this is next level. He then tasked me with doing a re fret. There was some twisting to the board and a bit of a hump. I managed to sand everything level and square without burning through all the wear in the neck. Stuck some new frets in. Made a nylon nut for it. Set it up. Job done. Killer guitar. Thanks to Yuuki for letting me be part of its story. 🫶

SOLD! The wasp nest B2S has gone to its new home this morning. Big thanks to Gary and I’m looking forward to seeing pics of it being played all over Suffolk!! Gary also owns the walnut B2S I made a few years back, he has gigged it pretty much every week for two years, only thing it needed was some contact cleaner sprayed into the volume pot!!

Had the best weekend with Tree Swift Goods Learning to make some knives!
Got two Japanese style kiridashi’s made and the start on a pair of kitchen knives, which are a beautiful kui mai damascus, which will be completed at a later date.

Luke is an amazing teacher, everything was well explained and demonstrated. I’ve learnt sooo much this weekend and being in someone else’s workshop that is as much of a nerd about his craft as I am is really inspiring.
He really is a master of his craft! And…. Made pizza for lunch!

Modded a j to a pj. Made it master volume and a blend pot, shifted the jack to the side as well. Plugged and re drilled the holes for the high mass. Made a new Corian nut and gave it a general setup. So, proper fancy Lowden Guitars in for some work. The customer took it to another shop, but came to me complaining that it was buzzing and sounded s**t. The action had been decked.. way too low for the guitar, then a shim put ON TOP of the pickup. So then the pickup didn’t work. The saddle was also badly sanded, so even if the plastic shim wasn’t there the pickup wouldn’t have be balanced!! The customer had also paid for fret work… that hadn’t been done and the truss rod had completely worked itself out of the truss rod slot and was touching the first brace, so I’m guessing that hadn’t been adjusted either. The nut had also been cut too low. So, got the rod back in and the neck straight, gave it a fret level, crown and polish, luckily that brought us back enough height at the nut that I didn’t have to make a new one and saved the customer a chunk of money. I also added a shim to the bottom of the saddle slot, under the pickup, rasing the saddle up enough to dial that is and save the customer some more money (remember he’s already paid out for a full service at another shop) stuck some new strings on, tweaked the relief, tuned to DADGAD and it sounds fecking amazing! I don’t claim to know everything, be the best or any of that ego bollocks… I do claim to be good, fair and will get the job done right for you. Stop going to other shops that charge to ruin your guitar. Come and see me, we’ll go through what you need and get it done right!

Amazing care package from the fine folks Ryobi Tools UK these will be replacing my old screw fix drills and saw…. Which will be donated to the Faz the guy from the last kit build as his first drill set. All ready talking to a couple of local community groups about doing some charity raffles! Which I’m really looking forward to getting off the ground. Used the impact to finish a few bits off in the booth before the first spray job and oh my days…. It’s amazing!! Like hands down better than the screw fix and dewalt ones I’ve owned!!
