The Golden Lion pub in Birmingham has been restored! 🙌
Dating from the 17th century, it was originally built as a house close to the city centre.
In the early 1900s, the timber-framed building was threatened with demolition, but after a successful public campaign, it was dismantled and moved to Cannon Hill Park in 1911, where it became a cricket pavilion and shelter.
It was later listed at Grade II, protecting it for future generations.
Recently, the building has been in poor repair, disused and steadily decaying, but a grant from our Heritage at Risk Capital Fund has helped repair the structure.
This relic of old Birmingham is now secure for the future, where it can be used by the local community.
