Absolutely buzzing to be sponsoring Zack Bidois for the upcoming season. Mon The Waid.

Aye, take a Squiz at this Bro. A new 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿.

Massive Chur to G & E Moncrieff Electrical Contractors who will be sponsoring our Kiwi footy star, 𝗭𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗕𝗶𝗱𝗼𝗶𝘀. You know everything will be, sweet as, when Zack is on the field. As comfortable elegantly playing the ball off his cultured left boot, as he is fronting up to the other team, entertainment is guaranteed when watching Zack, and the guys are always Stoked to have him in the team.

Zack says: "ngā mihi nui ki a G & E Moncrieff!"

𝗚 & 𝗘 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳𝗳 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 are a father and son business, serving Fife and beyond. 3rd and 4th generation Electricans, we have a combined 60+ years of experience between us. We carry out all electrical work, from fault finding and small jobs such as extra sockets, to full house rewires and EV charger installations.

We both take pride in keeping up to date with the latest technology, with what can only be described as a good old fashioned work ethic, putting our customers needs first at all times.

As well as work, Gordon and Euan share a passion for rugby, particularly at The Waid, with Gordon playing and coaching in the 1980s, and Euan first playing for The Waid upon starting High School, and continuing to play throughout the next 25 years. It gives us great pleasure to sponsor Zack for the upcoming season.

Zack is the sort of player both Moncrieffs enjoy to see on a rugby field, a classy handler and excellent runner while also relishing the hard graft and physical battles. Euan is relishing the opportunity to again link up with Zack and the rest of the guys on the pitch, with Gordon shouting words of wisdom from the sidelines.

Supporting the club as a whole is a great way to continue a relationship that started over 40 years ago.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀

It took a while for the Waid Academy FPRFC boys to get their first game of 2025 in but they gave a good account of themselves on welcoming the league leaders, Kirkcaldy Rugby Club Reds (2XV) to Waid Park.

🌟 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵: Nicholas Janse van Rensburg

Overall, it was a tough match. A difficult start to the match saw Waid concede a try just a couple minutes after kick off with a second not long after. Both converted. The Anster men didn't let the heads dip and held fast until another 5 points went through ten minutes later.

The team stayed strong after Kirkcaldy scored their bonus point try before the half hour mark and struck back with a try from Captain Ben Langlands putting Waid on the scoresheet. Kirkcaldy quickly responded with another try off the restart.

Waid fought back, sticking to the structure with Fly Half Nick Janse van Rensburg crashing over the line for a score before the break.
𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲: 𝟏𝟎 - 𝟐𝟗

Kirkcaldy started going through the gears in the second half. Keeping the league leaders at bay was a tough ask as fatigue began to set in. Waid didnt help themselves with 2 overlapping yellow cards leaving us with 13 men against 15. A rousing try from speedster Euan Moncrieff 29 minutes in, after two Kirkcaldy tries after the start of the second half rekindled the fight a bit.

Kirkcaldy replied with another try and five minutes later, Captain Ben got his second try of the afternoon. Kirkcaldy closed the game with another two tries with the final coming at the death with Waid defending a series of penalties from 5 meters out. The try came after a third yellow card for Waid with the try sealed by a conversion.
𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲: 𝟐𝟐 - 𝟓𝟑

Waid take a lot away from this game with an improved structure and confidence in our abilities. Waid conceded less points in the second half despite going down to just 13 men for a period of time as well as holding up at least 2 scores from the opposition demonstrating our willingness to fight. Waid know what let us down this game and are eager to shore up the gaps to allow to strive forward in our teams development.

Massive shout out to our sister club, Hyndland RFC for sending through 4 reinforcements to help us out for this fixture. The contribution of your players was invaluable in keeping the ship moving forward. Long may our relationship continue.

Thanks as always to our sponsors The Station Buffet, Fife Autocentre, Kevin Anderson Pittenweem fish merchant, East Fife Joinery, G & E Moncrieff Electrical and our charity sponsor RNLI Anstruther Lifeboat
