We tested 15 phone chargers from 7 online marketplaces.
The results were alarming:
⚡NINE posed a risk of electric shock
🔥EIGHT posed a risk of fire and exploding
🚫NONE met UK safety requirements

These marketplaces cannot claim ignorance – we’ve been flagging concerns around knock-off chargers for the best part of a decade, yet consumers are still being placed at risk.

The government must urgently use the new powers it has under the Product Regulation and Metrology Act to ensure online marketplaces are held accountable for unsafe products – and take action against those that fail to comply.
