I’ve got work to do and I’m doing it all smelling like lavender because let’s be honest what other scent would I choose 💜

meeting my deodorant priorities:

1. all natural
2. refillable (less waste)
3. super cute purple case 😬

If purple ain’t your thing there’s loads of other colours and scents to choose from AND you can use my discount code: YOUNGGROWERSCLUB for 15% off.

I gave up watering my potatoes a few months ago just because I just didn’t have the time to water everything and I knew even without water they would provide me with something.

I’m so happy with yield but the lack of water has meant most of the potatoes are quite small.

Potatoes will always be a crop I grow at the allotment and this year has proved to me that they’re definitely a must have if we continue to have drought years.

Also apologies for my out of breath voice, I was trying so hard not to sound like I have a bad cold but I’m not sure I succeeded 😬.

Maybe it has been the heat making these bitter but considering I’ve grown loads now and none of them have been nice it’s time to accept defeat and use the space for something delicious.

I have extra basil going in because we love it and then I’ll be planting lots of parsley to take me across autumn and winter.

Being at my allotment feels like a ghost town. One of my next door neighbours is still there regularly but it feels like everyone else has given up.

With ‘water gate’ at my allotment and the weather generally I’m not massively surprised. Is anyone else’s allotments looking like overgrown wasteland?

Egyptian walking onions, sorrel and Mexican mint are the plants currently growing away in my greenhouse which I will be adding to the allotment.

I’m about to also propagate some more of the perennial herbs from the garden and I’ll also be doing a seed order for some other perennials I can sow now. I will let you know what they once I get them.

The kitchen garden at is beyond beautiful. The colours, the structures, the perfection of the veg (honestly you should see the cabbages) and just the way each space is utilised to absolute food growing perfection but I know that the main ingredient to this perfection is a dedicated team of gardeners. So as my allotment is just me, myself and I (with the occasional draft in of a family member or friend) I’m being realistic about what I can achieve alongside having a garden, family and a business. Also I want to create a space which is resilient and more hands-off so I’m taking inspiration from another area of the garden. This area definitely had ‘food forest’ vibes and I got very excited about all the different perennial veg and flowers as well as the pumpkins making use of the space which is exactly what I intend to do next year.

If you happen to be heading to Wisley I definitely recommend checking out this area which is next to the Orchard near the main kitchen garden ☺️

The more I see which plants are doing well the more is cements the fact that I’m doing the right thing turning my allotment into a food forest.

Trees, fruit bushes and perennials are all doing ok with absolutely no water whilst many of my annuals are struggling and that’s with giving them a good water.

I know that by prioritising these at my allotment I will be creating a resilient space that will feed my family and friends even through the toughest weather conditions and with minimal effort in the long run.

Was genuinely nervous to go outside and check on everything after yet another boiling hot week and leaving the garden for 9 days, but overall I was pleasantly surprised.

The only real casualties were a greenhouse cucumber, some of the newly planted beetroot, my potted mint and the runner beans which are just giving me leaves and nothing else 🙃.

Also the apple tree has dropped loads of apples but as Monty explained this is a survival strategy to conserve water.

I had to edit this video down to 3 minutes but you can see the longer version on the other app ☺️

reigniting my love for theatre and performance has been the best thing that has happened to me this year and what better way to celebrate than to trek north to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with my family. Here our are the reviews of what we saw…

I love an interactive theatrical experience and Guru Dudu did not disappoint. We basically became a giant flash mob dancing whilst everyone in the street was totally confused about what was happening. We all loved it (hence the scores) and my son said he loved everyone watching us whereas my daughter wasn’t as keen saying it made her feel very shy.

If you’re a millennial or just generally enjoy Home Alone then this is the show for you. A very clever retelling with puppets and stuff. Proper belly laughs on this one. My sons favourite but I think my daughter was a bit confused with the whole thing. She said she was worried about the bad guys who kept peeping on Kevin. Also we came straight from another show and joined the queue near the back which meant we didn’t get the best seats. I think better seats would have made this even better.

Harry Potter Walking Tour was a last minute choice after we decided to not try and climb Arthur’s Seat with a 5 year old who doesn’t really like walking. And it was brilliant! It’s actually free (although of course we payed what we thought it was worth at the end) and you basically get taken round the spots that inspired the books. My son, who is very into the books, loved going to Greyfrairs (a graveyard) and seeing all the tombstones which had inspired the characters.

Mrs Armitage on Wheels was a proper little theatre production definitely aimed at younger children and that I thought it was very sweet and polished. The cast was only made up of 3 performers but they worked hard telling the story, doing all the puppets and songs. My daughter loved it mainly because it had a very cute puppet dog. If you have children under 5 they will love this.

FoRT was a fast paced physical theatre piece about turning everyday objects like a sofa, ironing boards, mops, buckets into different things like boats, castles. My son wasn’t keen on the lack of talking but the rest of us liked the clown

As well as watching lots of theatre at Edinburgh Fringe we decided to spend a day doing a few other Edinburgh bits and that included going to the

I LOVE wandering round gardens especially when they look all green and lush 😭.

Also let me know if you want a round up of the theatre we’ve seen ❤️
