A gloriously crisp and sunny day for a post-completion catch-up lunch with clients of this super energy-efficient replacement dwelling in Wi******er. To say I have significant house envy would be an understatement!

RK/a has recently obtained planning consent for a replacement dwelling on Ramley Road, Pennington.

The existing house, dating from the 1950s, is structurally unsound and beyond economic repair.

The replacement dwelling will target passivhaus standards and make extensive use of timber framing, thereby reducing operational carbon emissions and sequestering carbon in the fabric of the building. The SW-facing roof will incorporate a 6.5kWp in-roof PV array which will combine with battery storage to 'load-shift' and minimise demand for peak rate grid electricity.

Work on site will commence imminently.

RK/a's Wi******er newbuild project is now very close to completion.

The triple-height staircase atrium, flooded with light from the south-facing window and two rooflights certainly provides a wow factor as you enter the house!

Western Escarpment House: Extension to a New Forest Conservation Area 'Arts & Crafts' House

This early Edwardian 'Arts & Crafts' style house is located in the Western Escarpment Conservation Area near Ringwood. The 86m2 extension lightly connects to the south of the existing non-designated heritage asset house by means of a glazed link.

The main hipped roof volume contains the kitchen, dining room and living room with nine metre wide biparting, bifolding doors to the west creating a strong connection with the 3 acre site.

A 'fabric first' approach to the extension and upgrades to insulation and heating / hot water system in the existing house have seen the EPC improve from 'F' to 'B'.

A sunny site visit to RK/a's replacement dwelling project in Wi******er today. The Wienerberger Marziale brickwork by Harpoint Builders is looking exceptionally good.

The (almost) 9m wide opening for the Maxlight triple-track sliding doors was equally impressive!

This is the first project I've been involved with where thin-joint blockwork has been used
