Earlier this year, I travelled with my family to experience a solar eclipse.

The eclipse was incredible - but it wasn’t just those few minutes that made the experience memorable.

It was travelling together, finding places to eat, sharing conversations, building anticipation and finally standing together, experiencing something we’ll talk about for years.

Shared experiences create memories.

It got me thinking about what sits at the heart of R&M Property Group and KWIKHAUS.

Property development can become dominated by numbers:

Land values. GDV. Planning. Build costs. Funding. Programme. Yield. Profit.

All essential - but ultimately, we are creating places where people’s lives happen.

Homes where families eat, relax, celebrate, laugh, raise children, welcome friends and plan their next adventure.

That human element should never disappear from development.

A fantastic visit to RSHP – Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners in London, meeting with the partners and discussing the exciting alignment between R&M Property Group, KWIKHAUS and RSHP.

RSHP has an incredible architectural heritage, connected with some of the world’s most groundbreaking buildings — from the Centre Pompidou and Lloyd’s of London to the Leadenhall Building.

Yesterday I had the privilege of spending time with the partners at RSHP (Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners) in London, discussing what we believe is a very exciting alignment between RSHP, R&M Property Group and KWIKHAUS.

RSHP has an extraordinary architectural heritage.

Founded as the Richard Rogers Partnership, the practice behind some of the world’s most recognisable and groundbreaking buildings has spent decades challenging conventional thinking around architecture, engineering, sustainability and the way buildings are actually put together.

From the Centre Pompidou and Lloyd’s of London to the Leadenhall Building, their influence on modern architecture is difficult to overstate.

But what particularly interests us is their thinking around housing, MMC, industrialised construction and sustainability.

RSHP has already pioneered modular and offsite housing solutions in the UK, including Y:Cube and the development of net-zero carbon modular homes - combining design quality with manufacturing efficiency, fabric performance, lower operational energy and reduced embodied carbon.

That philosophy has considerable synergy with what we are developing through KWIKHAUS.

Our conversations centred around how we can combine world-class architectural thinking with our experience in MMC, DfMA, construction, development and delivery to create a new generation of homes.

🐾 A safe, clean and comfortable home matters to everyone. 🏡

This week, the R&M team carried out some remedial groundworks at a local Dogs 4 Rescue centre for an animal charity we’re proud to support.

It might only be a small project in construction terms, but it can make a big difference to the dogs who rely on these facilities while waiting for their forever homes. ❤️🐶

At R&M, we believe creating better places goes beyond the developments we build.

Our people, skills and resources can also be used to support the organisations doing important work within our communities.

Because everyone deserves a safe space and somewhere comfortable to call home — including our four-legged friends. 🐾

This week, the R&M team carried out some emergency remedial groundworks at a local dog rescue centre for an animal charity we’re proud to support. Dogs 4 Rescue

It wasn’t a large construction project - but sometimes the smaller jobs can make a real difference.

At R&M, we talk a lot about creating safe, secure and comfortable homes for people. But we believe those basic principles should extend further.

Every dog waiting for its next chapter deserves somewhere that is safe, clean, dry and comfortable - a place where it can feel secure while the people around it work hard to find its forever home. 🐾

For this project, our team provided its time and expertise to help improve the external environment and put right some groundworks that needed attention.

As a business, we want our social value commitments to be about more than numbers on a tender return. Wherever possible, we want to use the skills, people and resources we already have to make a practical difference in the communities and organisations around us.

Good homes matter. Safe spaces matter. Whether they’re for people or their four-legged companions.

A big thank you to our team for getting involved, and to the staff and volunteers at the rescue centre for the work they do every day.

Building homes is about more than bricks, land and numbers. It’s about what happens inside them.

After taking some time away with family recently, it reinforced something that can easily get lost when we’re focused on projects, programmes, funding and delivery.

Time together matters.

Holidays give us the chance to switch off, reconnect and spend proper time with the people who matter most. That time is important for our health, happiness and relationships and ultimately helps us come back to work with a clearer perspective.

It also connects with what we do at R&M Property Group.

We talk a lot about development viability, land, investment, planning, design, MMC and construction. All of those things are essential.

But ultimately, we’re creating homes.

Places where families grow up.
Where children make memories.
Where people feel safe and settled.
Where friends and families come together.
And where everyday life happens.

As R&M continues to evolve into a more development-led property business, that purpose is increasingly important to us.

We want to work with landowners, local authorities, Registered Providers, investors, funding partners and development partners to unlock sites and create well-designed, sustainable homes and communities that have genuine long-term value.

Because successful development shouldn’t only be measured by what we build.
