Number 6 in our 'Maker' series is John, the owner and creative at Taran Eco Designs. John first arrived at Corris Craft Centre as a volunteer keen to learn woodcraft and never left. Since 2010, he’s been creating beautiful furniture and gifts made from locally salvaged timber, wind‑blown trees and even historic beams.

Visitors can also try out pyrography, the art of burning designs into wood or join one of John’s woodworking or furniture making courses to craft a unique, nature‑inspired piece.

A gorgeous glass-topped stumpy coffee table delivered and installed to our customer's living room. These tables are made from old unwanted tree stumps that we carefully clean up and oil before fitting them with either a clear glass or a handcrafted wooden top to make an absolutely stunning room centrepiece. At Taran Eco Designs we make them all from beautiful reclaimed Welsh hardwoods like oak or ash and can make to whatever size suits your requirements. The table legs are recycled oak fenceposts.
