Over the last few weeks we have replaced some fuse boards in some (shocking) conditions. 1 was in an outside cupboard with no lid & exposed live parts, 1 had a main rcd removed & the hole in the front of the board just taped up, 1 was like a birds nest inside & there was also a loose connection which was a potential fire risk.
After changing these boards, a complete test was carried out as standard on the whole house electrical installation. 1 of the properties had no earth on the lighting circuits and the customer had some chrome switches & lights fitted by someone in the past (this meant that the metal light switches this lady was turning off, could of become live under certain circumstances).
Sometimes we take for granted the main parts of our homes like protection against fire & electric shock.

Started off the day by installing a couple Ring products today - a wired front door bell and a security flood light on the side of the house facing the side gate for added peace of mind. This included commissioning, setting up of the Ring app and also linking the products to the customer’s Alexa.

Also something completely different - on the way home we stopped off to lay a concrete base!
