Do not use these Irish gypsy travellers. The guy referred himself as 'Barry'. They go around door to door asking to clean your gutters and then offer to do some further repair work at an additional cost. I was naive to allow these muppets to do some repair work on my roof around £1k all in. But I'm now getting a lot of rain water leak behind the fascia board as it obviously wasn't installed properly.
While 'Barry' got his guys to do the work, he was very pushy and tried to get me to pay him the full amount before the job even completed! I obviously outright refused. What an utter muppet.
After about a week since discovering the rain leak, I have called him multiple times, and each time he had promised to arrange a date to come back to fix it. He never ever turned up. Eventually his mobile number always went to voicemail.
After doing some online research, 'Gold Line Building and Landscapes' is not a legitimate company as it doesn't exists when you search on Company House. The business address currently listed on their website (http://www.goldlinebuildingandlandscapes.co.uk/), is a closed down pub. This is obviously a fake address to prevent people from finding them.
When I Googled the business freephone number, it looks like this was previously associated with a company called 'LMC UK Builders', which has been dissolved for almost 3 years. However, Company House shows that the director's name was Lee McCarthy, and he's Irish. You can Google it.
This is a warning to everyone to not accept any job from doorstep traders. They do not care about customer service and certainly don't care about doing their job up to standard, because once you have paid them, they will not come back to honour their so called work guarantee.
It is much safer to properly search online where you can thoroughly search for genuine traders with a legitimate company; can search for online reviews; and check whether they are part of any trade association or government approved traders. Although £1k does seem a lot to me, I have read worse stories where people are £5k-£10k out of pocket due to rogue traders. So I consider myself lucky that it wasn't that bad and I have learnt my lesson. But I still have to hire someone else to fix their mess.
I believe the first picture is Barney Doherty (white shirt with yellow hi vis vest). See my other post regarding his Facebook profile. The guy with the beard is Myles Oneill.
I have now given all this information to Trading Standards.
Be safe everyone.
