Behind every traffic cone is a person who deserves to go home safely at the end of their shift 🦺

For drivers, temporary traffic lights and roadworks can feel like a frustrating delay, but for the people working on the road, it is a vital safety barrier between them and live traffic 🚧

Modern traffic management combines established standards with technology to help keep everyone on site safe:

• Clear, compliant layouts - following the relevant 12A/B and 12D requirements helps provide drivers with clear guidance and early warning.

• Smart temporary signals - battery and solar powered systems with remote monitoring can reduce the need for roadside call outs and help minimise unnecessary exposure to live traffic. We use Berlex Traffic lights as standard on all of our sites.

• Incursion protection - site alarms, vehicle barriers and other protective measures can alert teams when vehicles enter unauthorised areas.

• Effective site lighting - good lighting and clear sightlines are essential for keeping both road users and workers safe, particularly during night works.

We’re excited to share that our specialist team has officially completed critical underpinning works for The Old Hall Hotel in Coventry - a beautiful Grade II listed building 🏛️

Working on historic sites demands a high level of technical expertise. Our primary goal was to strengthen the building's foundations without compromising its original structure 🧱

Following strict conservation guidelines and listed building consent, our team carefully worked in sections to transfer the hotel's load onto a much more stable base 👷‍♂️

It’s been a process demanding extreme precision and safety precautions. Huge well done to everyone on site who made this part of the project a success! 🌟

Our network alteration works for Openreach are progressing well and are now nearing completion 👷‍♂️

The team has been working within a confined manhole environment, carrying out the necessary network alterations safely, all while working to a challenging three week programme agreed with all interested parties ⏳

Led on site by Nick and his experienced team, the works have continued to progress smoothly, with their knowledge and experience playing a key role in delivering the project to programme 👏

A great example of the importance of good planning with experienced teams 📋

This year’s Gas Safety Week message is one we live by every single day: Take No Chances ⚠️

Whether you're on a job site, in the office, or relaxing at home, gas safety risks should never be ignored. Gas leaks, fires, and Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning are serious hazards, but knowing what to look for and acting fast, saves lives ⏱️

How to recognise the "Silent Killer". You can’t see, smell, or taste Carbon Monoxide. Keep an eye out for these key symptoms:
• Headaches and dizziness
• Nausea and breathlessness
• Collapse or loss of consciousness

What to do if you suspect a issue or CO poisoning:
1) Turn off the gas appliance immediately (if it is safe to do so).
2) Get out into fresh air straight away.
3) Call the national Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999.
4) Seek immediate medical attention if you or someone else feels unwell.

Prevention is everything. Never cut corners on maintenance 🙅‍♂️

All gas equipment, extraction, and ventilation systems should always be installed, checked, and maintained by a certified Gas Safe registered engineer👩‍🔧

No reinstatement job is ever the same 👷‍♂️

When utility works require cutting into a road, putting it back together takes the right technique, it's never just a case of ‘filling a hole.’ It requires structural layers to ensure the road doesn't fail, dip, or crack under daily traffic 🪨

Here is a look at the essential layers of a Ferns resurfacing operation:
1) Sub-base: Engineered aggregate, heavily compacted to provide a solid, dependable foundation.
2) Binder Course: The load-bearing layer. Hot, coarse asphalt that gives the road its core structural strength.
3) Surface Course: The smooth, fine-graded top layer you drive on, designed for optimal grip, durability, and weather resistance.

109m² resurfaced following an emergency repair.

After a Thames Water pipe burst, our team was on site to get the carriageway back to standard.

We removed the damaged surface at 110mm then laid AC 20 binder course at 70mm. Following that, we laid SMA 10 surface course at 40mm. To finish off, we re-lined the carriageway.

As always, delivered to a tight schedule with no compromise on quality.

Big job on a busy road, with no disruption to the plan 📋

We're out on Godstone Road working alongside Forefront Utilities to deliver a major gas main replacement for SGN. This is 900m of 15" main being swapped out over a 4 month programme ⏳

This isn't a simple TM setup - here's what's involved:
• Complex site-specific traffic management designed and delivered
• Concrete bollards installed to safeguard a nearby level crossing
• Regular meetings with the Local Authority to design and adapt TM as the project grows
• 24 hour site cover provided at Local Authority request

Phase one traffic management has been successfully mobilised with minimal issues! ✅
