This garden went from split and tired to connected and timeless.

We installed:

2 new patios

• One raised for extra seating

• One replacing the old worn-out area

• 1 new pathway, joining both patios so the space flows

From overgrown pond to refined outdoor living ✨️

We transformed this space with oak railway sleepers from , creating bespoke retaining beds and walls that blend structure with natural beauty.

The process:

• Emptied & re-homed the pond life

• Removed liners & backfilled with draining aggregate

• Built & lined sleeper retaining walls

• Finished with a Type 1 MOT base + 10mm gravel patio for a clean, low-maintenance finish

The result? A space built for slow mornings, late evenings, and everything in between.

This heatwave has reminded us just how valuable our outdoor spaces really are.

After recently visiting the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, we came away feeling hugely inspired by the creativity, atmosphere, and attention to detail that goes into creating truly special gardens.

We recently visited the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and came away feeling incredibly inspired by the creativity, craftsmanship, planting combinations, materials, and design details on display.

A Charming Finish to a Wonderful Home

Following an extensive renovation and extension, our clients wanted to create additional off-road parking while ensuring the frontage still felt welcoming, considered, and in keeping with the character of the property.

With two packs of bricks remaining from the renovation works, we incorporated them into the design by constructing the walls and brick piers with feature entrance details on either side of the driveway. This helped tie the new landscaping into the home beautifully.

The driveway area was excavated and professionally prepared with a new subbase before being finished with block paving, creating a practical, durable surface suitable for everyday use.

The two central free standing piers were carefully positioned to break up the wide opening while also forming a clear pedestrian route to the front door, ensuring the entrance could not be compromised by parked vehicles.

Completed pier lights and wall lights, the result is a charming, practical, and elegant frontage that provides the parking required without ever feeling like a car park.

Revisited: A walkway that now truly welcomes visitors.

We recently returned to this small but beautiful project, which we had previously shared, to capture some updated images now that the planting has softened around the space.

The original brief was to address a long-standing drainage issue while also improving the appearance of a dated concrete footpath. The existing path felt tired and uninviting, so we removed the concrete, slightly widened the walkway, installed a new subbase, adjusted the falls, and incorporated drainage to help manage surface water more efficiently.

To finish the area, we lain London Blend clay pavers, creating a warm, cottage-style pathway that feels far more in keeping with the properties planting scheme.

A small project, but one that makes a huge difference to the entrance of the home, practical, elegant, and built to last.

When a client comes back, you know you did it right ✅️

This client first had us install the rear fence line. This time, she asked us back to tackle both side boundaries, reconfigure the garden, and make it usable.

What we did:

• Installed 2x new 6ft closeboard fence lines with Durapost metal posts + composite gravel boards - built to last

• Reconfigured the layout and laid a new Indian Sandstone patio & pathway

• Installed a new lawn

The challenge:
Poor access, no excavator, all done by hand

Here's what we did:

• Timber close board fencing with oak end posts + Durapost metal posts & composite gravel boards - built to last
• Driveway: Core grid system with 20mm gravel, framed in block paving for clean edges
• Rumble mats for hard standing, new kerbs, and updated manhole covers
• Soil conditioned and ready for planting.

Results: A tidy, low maintenance frontage that works and looks incredible.

All done in-house by our RedOakes team - no subcontractors.
