⚡ Always nice to return to a previous job!

I recently returned to Brambles Lodge in Woodbridge, where I completed an installation five years ago, to carry out an EICR.

It's lovely to see how much the area has changed since then. What was once a muddy field now has trees that have grown and matured, completely changing the look of the space.

I really enjoy returning to previous jobs, seeing how everything is getting on and having a face-to-face catch-up with customers.

It's one of the best parts of the job. You get to see how things have developed over the years and catch up with people you've worked with before.

🔌 Putting a new EV charger to the test.

A big thank you to Vestel Mobility for sending me this EV charger to trial.

My initial inspection looks promising, and I’m looking forward to getting it installed and seeing how it performs.

I always enjoy speaking to new companies and getting the chance to try out their equipment. Before recommending a product to customers, I want to understand what it offers and how it performs in practice.

It's important to me to know the equipment I'm installing so I can help customers choose the right solution for their needs.

I'll share more once I've had the chance to put this one through its paces!

⚡ It's not just about getting the torque right.

When we're working on connections, we don't just rely on making sure everything has been tightened to the correct torque.

We also visually inspect the connection to the busbar to make sure everything looks right and that we have a good connection.

It's these final checks that matter. Taking the time to properly inspect the work gives us confidence that everything has been completed correctly before we leave the job.

For us, it's about doing the job properly from start to finish.

🔌 Another EV charger installation completed today, this time in Silver End.

We installed a Hypervolt EV charger for a returning customer.

⛳ Supporting a great local charity.

I recently sponsored a hole at the local golf club for the Captain's Charity Day.

When I was contacted and found out that the charity being supported was the MCA Trust, I couldn't say no!

The MCA Trust supports children with cancer and their families, providing practical and emotional support when they need it most.

It's always good to be able to support something local, especially when the money raised is going towards such an important cause.

I hope everyone had a great day and that the charity day helped raise plenty of money for the MCA Trust.

A big well done to everyone involved. 👏

⚡ 3 signs your electrical installation might need attention.

Not every electrical problem is immediately obvious, but there are some warning signs worth paying attention to:

1. Lights are flickering
If lights are regularly flickering or dimming, there could be an underlying electrical issue.

2. Breakers keep tripping
If you're constantly having to reset a circuit breaker, it's worth finding out why rather than simply resetting it each time.

3. Sockets or switches are warm or discoloured
Heat, scorch marks or discolouration around sockets and switches shouldn't be ignored and should be checked by a qualified electrician.

📺 Another 2 digital notice boards installed today.

This time, we were in Reading and London, getting both installations completed and ready to go.

Another two jobs completed and another couple of digital notice boards ready for use.

It’s been great working on these installations and seeing the finished result each time.

⚡ Not every electrical problem is obvious.

Sometimes an electrical issue will be very clear. A light stops working, a breaker keeps tripping or a socket stops working.

But other problems can be much harder to spot.

Flickering lights, unusual noises, warm sockets, equipment cutting out or an electrical fault that comes and goes can all be signs that something isn't quite right.

It can be tempting to ignore it if everything is still working, but electrical problems don't always fix themselves.

That's why proper fault finding is important. Rather than simply replacing a part or resetting a breaker, we want to find out what's actually causing the problem.
