Toad Lily or Tricyrtis hirta is a lovely perennial with these great spotted flowers. Happy in full or part shade. Grows to about half a metre or a bit bigger.

Fantastic Romneya (Californian tree poppy) has huge blooms held on stems up to two metres. I think they look like fried eggs!! 🍳

Iris 'Kent Pride'. I was able to buy last autumn and one of my three plants has flowered this year.

We used to grow this at Leeds Castle,Kent and it covered a huge area. I have not seen this Iris blooming since then and it brings back happy memories of my gardening time there.

I started work on this climbing rose two years ago... pruning in late autumn after flowering. The majority of the flowers were at the top.

Second photo was taken this time last year with better flower coverage over the whole plant.

Third photo was last week with many more blooms lower on the plant and right to the top.

Taking small steps at the right time of year and having patience has helped give this rose its full potential.

In this fast paced world, plants remind us that slow progress is sometimes the most satisfying. 🌹

May blossom or Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) is seen everywhere as white clouds that cover the hedgerows. This is the pink form (maybe Paul's Scarlet) that is quite a striking colour.

Shady subjects...

Both the Brunnera 'Sea Heart' and Lamium orvala are in a semi-shaded area of my garden. Planted late summer/early autumn in 2025 they have been growing really well this spring.

Monday Blues...

Taken a week or so ago, but my deep blue Ceanothus (Californian Lilac) look amazing against the blue sky early morning. Just catching the sunlight.

Combination of acid green Euphorbia and purple honesty (Lunaria annua). This colour combination is a favourite of mine.

Takes me back to the years at Leeds Castle Gardens (second picture) and the purple bearded Iris in the Lady Baillie Garden.

Centaurea 'Purple Heart' (perennial cornflower) has been one of the plants that travelled around with me for years.

Somehow I always remembered to take some with me, even when it wasn't in flower!

The outer 'petals' start white and gradually change to pale pink. The contrast with the dark purple/maroon centre is lovely.

The lovely Clematis montana that never fails to perform. This one is tangled through ivy giving a nice green and pink contrast.
