Virtual Power Plants explained. Your home battery could be earning you money and most people have no idea.
If you've got solar panels and a battery in your Stockport or Manchester home, you could be getting paid to support the national grid during busy periods. It's called a Virtual Power Plant and it's easier to join than you'd think.
No switching supplier. No extra hardware. Just your existing battery doing a little extra work a few times a month and earning you £1 per kWh while it does it.
We've just published a guide explaining exactly how it works, how much you can earn, and which batteries qualify.
Typical annual earnings for a Stockport home:
💰 Solar self-consumption savings: £600–£800
💰 Smart export payments: £150–£200
💰 VPP earnings: £120–£180
💰 Smart tariff savings: £150–£250
That's potentially over £1,400 a year from one system.

A Virtual Power Plant is a network of thousands of home batteries and sometimes EV chargers and heat pumps connected together through a software platform and coordinated to act like a single large power station.
