We are pleased to announce the successful completion of Cheadle Hulme School, delivering a new extension within a live school environment.

The project involved extensive groundworks and drainage installations, structural amendments to create additional space for both the Primary and High School buildings, reinforced concrete floor construction, roofing works, SFS framing, brickwork, glazing, and a full internal fit out including flooring, decorating, and external landscaping works.

Alongside the structural and architectural elements, the works also included the installation of mechanical and electrical systems, fire alarms, access control, and CCTV.

Working within an operational school presented a unique set of logistical and safeguarding challenges, requiring careful planning and close coordination throughout. Through phased works, controlled access routes, and ongoing collaboration with the school and wider project team, the works were delivered safely while minimising disruption to students, staff, and daily operations.

A great achievement by everyone involved, and a fantastic example of collaborative project delivery from start to finish.

Meet Maia Webster, Project Manager at RECOM Solutions.

Maia is a Project Manager at RECOM, delivering a portfolio of higher education, industrial and commercial projects across both project delivery and client management. Her role spans programme oversight, coordination of multidisciplinary teams, and responsibility for maintaining alignment across commercial, technical and stakeholder requirements from inception through to completion.

She joined RECOM at 18 years old as a Trainee Project Manager and has progressed over six years, completing a Construction Project Management degree at the University of Salford alongside her role.

Since joining, Maia has been involved in a range of schemes including Beyer Quadrangle at the University of Manchester (£3.2m), Vauxhall Industrial Estate (£15.9m), and most recently Zochonis LTM at the University of Manchester (£34.25m), managing both project delivery and direct client relationships across each appointment.

Her development has included structured training, NEC accreditation, and exposure to increasingly complex and high-value projects, alongside a recent step into a line management role, supporting apprentices within the team.

Maia is particularly proud of her progression from Trainee to Project Manager and the level of responsibility she now holds across live projects and client-facing delivery.

Outside of work, Maia has a strong interest in travel, swimming and reading, and is part of the RECOM book club.

It was a pleasure to welcome Duncan Ivison, President of The University of Manchesterer, to site at the Zochonis Building last week.

The visit provided an opportunity to walk through key areas across the ground and lower ground floors, including emerging student spaces, specialist facilities such as EEG, VR and PAD labs, and the developing external landscape. It was a valuable moment to share an overview of the project’s purpose, programme and progress to date.

A key focus of the discussion centred around the project’s long-term impact, bringing the Psychology department together within a single, purpose-designed environment, while taking advantage of planned long-term maintenance works to utilise the disruption and deliver a more future-ready facility. The collaborative approach between RECOM, the University’s Estates team and the Psychology department continues to play a vital role in shaping the scheme, alongside a shared ambition around net zero carbon outcomes.

With significant milestones being reached on site, including the completion of the majority of roof coverings and structural works progressing well, the project remains on programme as we move towards the next phase of delivery.

Meet Ben Guymer, Associate Project Manager at RECOM Solutions.

Ben has over 15 years’ experience delivering complex projects across the higher education and healthcare sectors. His role focuses on managing demolition, refurbishment and new build schemes, with particular strength in project controls, procurement strategy and stakeholder coordination.

Over the years, Ben has built extensive experience across all RIBA stages, delivering capital, condition and compliance-driven projects. He has managed multiple projects in parallel, coordinated large consultant teams and delivered schemes with combined values exceeding £90m, including A&E expansion works, laboratory refurbishments at the University of Liverpool, and major programmes at the University of Manchester.

Since joining RECOM, Ben has found it to be a friendly and supportive environment, working alongside dedicated professionals who are always willing to help each other deliver the best outcomes on projects. He particularly enjoys the variety of clients and projects across both education and healthcare, as well as the opportunity to contribute not only to delivery but also to strengthening the wider team’s knowledge through shared experience.

That collaborative approach makes it especially rewarding to overcome challenges together and successfully deliver projects on behalf of clients.

Development is also a clear focus. Ben continues to build on his experience through CPD, alongside a wider team working towards APM accreditation and RICS chartered status, reflecting RECOM’s commitment to continuous learning and progression.

One of the aspects he is most proud of in his career is not only delivering complex projects successfully, but also supporting others in his team to develop and grow within the industry.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time outdoors, whether that is a round of golf or camping with friends and family. He is also a keen DIY enthusiast and values time spent with his family.

RECOM Fire Solutions recently delivered Passive Fire Protection (PFP) services across approximately 50 residential and assisted living facilities across the Midlands and South-West England on behalf of a large housing provider.

The programme included:

• Fire stopping and remedial works to penetrations and seals following surveys
• Fire door repairs, replacements and new door installations
• Digital tracking and reporting of all works using Bolster Systems Limited, building a golden thread of information for our clients

Delivered within live environments, the works were carefully planned and coordinated to maintain programme, ensure compliance, and minimise disruption to residents and building operations.

Meet Piyush Sheopuri, Senior Project Manager at RECOM Solutions.

Piyush is a Senior Project Manager at RECOM, working client-side across a mix of residential and regeneration projects. His role focuses on bringing structure to projects from the outset, identifying and managing risks early, and ensuring delivery stays on track from the very beginning.

He began his career in architecture, building a strong foundation in how projects and buildings come together. Over time, he found himself drawn more to the coordination and decision-making side, which naturally led him into project management.

Since joining RECOM, Piyush has been involved in complex projects from an early stage. This has given him the opportunity to develop quickly, taking an active role in solving real challenges and contributing to key project decisions.

A big part of what stands out to him is the level of trust and ownership. There is an expectation to take responsibility, balanced with a supportive team environment where ideas can be shared and challenged. This approach has also supported his development, alongside exposure to a wide range of projects, particularly within front-end and advisory work. He has also had the opportunity to contribute to how processes are shaped internally, rather than simply following them.

One aspect of his work he takes particular pride in is stepping into projects that lack clarity and helping bring structure and direction, giving clients a clear and informed path forward.

Outside of work, Piyush is currently training for a sprint triathlon, so much of his time is spent swimming, cycling or running, alongside playing football.

We’re proud to share a key milestone, as we move closer to completing our Delamere scheme for our valued client, .

Appointed to deliver 55 properties on an interrupted project, this scheme has been a true reflection of resilience, collaboration, and commitment across the whole team. One week on from our latest site visit, we’re now in the final stages, with just 3 of the 55 homes remaining to be completed and handed over.

Having successfully delivered a further 7 properties this month, we’ve supported L&Q in maintaining momentum against their delivery targets, an achievement that speaks to the dedication of everyone involved.

Captured during a recent spring morning on site, these images highlight the progress made and the quality being delivered across the scheme.

We look forward to completing the remaining homes and continuing to provide high-quality outcomes for our clients and communities.

Since joining the business in 2019, Gemma has become a key part of RECOM’s growth, bringing energy, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting others. She is particularly proud to be part of a vibrant and inclusive team, where so many women are thriving across a variety of roles within the construction industry.

In her role, Gemma supports teams across the business while helping to build a culture where people feel valued, supported and able to grow. Her thoughtful and people-focused approach continues to have a lasting impact across RECOM.

Alongside her role, Gemma is currently undertaking a Level 7 Apprenticeship in Leadership and People, with the aim of using her learning to further strengthen how we support our people as the business evolves.

As we continue to recognise the impact of women across our business following International Women’s Day, we’re proud to spotlight and celebrate the people who make our teams what they are.

This week we’re celebrating Jodie Brighty, Project Manager within the Passive Fire Protection team at RECOM Solutions. Since joining in 2025, Jodie has embraced a new and highly specialised area of construction with confidence, quickly becoming a valued member of the team.

Working closely with clients, operatives and project teams, Jodie plays a key role in keeping projects running smoothly, ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly and on time. Alongside her day-to-day role, she is continuing to build her knowledge and is looking to begin the IFE Level 2 Certificate in Passive Fire Protection to further strengthen her technical expertise.

Jodie brings a thoughtful and driven approach to everything she does, building strong relationships, taking real ownership of her work and approaching challenges with confidence. She values the trust and independence she’s given, while still being supported by the wider team - something that has helped her grow both professionally and personally.

Working in a traditionally male-dominated industry can come with its challenges, but Jodie represents the progress being made. There are still moments where you may find yourself the only woman at the table, but rather than seeing that as intimidating, it’s something to be proud of - a reminder that representation matters and that change is happening.
