Feel Good Friday – Another Fantastic Scheme Completed ✅

There’s nothing better than ending the week on a high, and today we’re proud to share a stunning drone video, captured by Jamie Dimelow, of the prestigious Foss Island development in York.

This marks the seventh project awarded to Cara by GMI Construction in less than four years, following successful collaborations on Oak House Student Accommodation, Carlton Hill Student Village, Hyatt Hotel, Mabgate, ABI and Rialto House.

The £17 million Foss Island development is a landmark purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme delivered for Urbium Capital and Harrogate-based Gregory Properties. The five-storey development provides 131 premium studio apartments and two one-bedroom apartments, alongside a range of high-quality amenities including:

💪 Fitness centre
🤝 Communal social areas
🌳 Landscaped courtyards

Our masonry works package lasted 30 weeks, completing in spring, with the development ready for the start of the 2026/27 academic year.

The gym was officially opened by boxing legends Tony Bellew, Natasha Jonas and David Price, giving it a fantastic start and highlighting its ambition to create a first-class training facility at the heart of the community.

It's brilliant to see some of our own team members regularly getting up early, putting the hard work in before heading off to site or the office. 🏆 Winning Work Wednesday 🏆

Cara Brickwork Set to Commence Another Major Rebuild Scheme.

Cara Brickwork is delighted to announce the award of a façade remediation project at the Damaz Building, Manchester.

The project will see the building upgraded to meet full fire compliance standards under the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) requirements, reflecting its status as a High-Risk Building (HRB). 🙌

The wider remediation programme will include:
✅ Cladding replacement
✅ Balcony refurbishment works
✅ Complex masonry strip-out and rebuild works
✅ Delivery to the highest standards of quality and safety

Working alongside the Everlast Group, Cara Brickwork has been involved in detailed planning and preparation to ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all regulatory requirements.

We are looking forward to commencing works in the coming weeks and continuing our involvement in the growing number of building safety and remediation schemes across the region.

🌟 Motivation Monday 🌟

At Cara Brickwork, we're proud to be playing our part in supporting Grow CIC at Bowring Park, Knowsley through the Knowsley Wellbeing & Nature Alliance.
Over six months ago, Morgan Sindall invited us to become part of this fantastic initiative, and we were delighted to get involved. The Alliance brings together organisations committed to restoring nature, improving wellbeing, and creating lasting social impact across Knowsley.

Since joining, our team has supported the project through both funding and volunteering days, helping to improve the Forest School area and nature trails for the local community. 🌳🚶‍♀️🍃

Fast forward six months, and the results have been incredible. Together, Alliance members have generated £282,595 of accredited social value, equating to an impressive £12.85 of social value for every £1 donated. If this level of impact continues, the Alliance is on track to deliver £25.70 for every £1 invested over the full 12-month period, exceeding the original forecast of £22. 👏

And we're only just getting started.

Recently, Alliance members came together again to discuss exciting opportunities around the new Forest School and Walled Garden outdoor learning and dining area. We are now developing an action plan that brings together the skills, expertise and resources of businesses across the Alliance to help turn these ideas into reality. 🤝
It's inspiring to see the difference that collective action can make to local communities, wellbeing and the environment.

🌟 Feel Good Friday! 🌟

What better way to round off the week than by looking back at a project we're incredibly proud to have delivered earlier this year.

🏗️ Trafford Gardens is a landmark £34m residential development on Talbot Road, just a stone's throw from Old Trafford Cricket Ground and Old Trafford Football Stadium. The scheme comprises a striking 5-storey and 13-storey apartment development, originally designed by Tim Groom before being finalised by JDA Architects.

Delivered by Linear Design & Construct alongside Linear Living, Cara Brickwork was responsible for the labour, plant and materials masonry package, valued at over £2.6m.

Having been involved during the design and cost planning stages, it was disappointing to see the project initially shelved due to funding challenges. Thankfully, Linear Living resurrected the development and when Linear Design & Construct approached our Directors to see if we could "get the band back together", the answer was simple... absolutely!

Built using a combination of scaffolding and mast climbers, the development showcases exceptional masonry workmanship throughout. From sawtooth detailing and brick banding to indented panels and stone copings, every element demanded precision, craftsmanship and dedication from our team.

👏 A huge credit to everyone involved in bringing this fantastic scheme to completion.

We are proud to announce that Cara Brickwork has been named Best Subcontractor (£100k - £500k) at the North West Supply Chain Awards, held at Rugby Ground.

Having worked with Morgan Sindall for over 25 years in one guise or another, we are incredibly honoured to receive this recognition. The award reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment of our fantastic teams, as well as the strong relationships we have built with Morgan Sindall over many years.

This latest success follows our achievements at the same event last year, where we were delighted to win both the Pre-Construction and Safety Awards. Earlier this year, we were also proud recipients of the 100% Safe Award at the Morgan Sindall North East Supply Chain Awards.

Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate programmes and key milestones with the main contractor team, ensuring works progress in line with the programme.
* Carry out site inspections and safety audits alongside the Cara Brickwork Health & Safety Consultant.
* Deliver toolbox talks to site operatives.
* Attend daily coordination meetings and weekly progress meetings.
* Order and schedule materials as required.
* Monitor and manage site instructions and variations.
* Ensure compliance with Cara Brickwork's Health & Safety procedures.
* Maintain high-quality standards and ensure QA inspections are completed in accordance with Quality Plans and ITPs.
* Coordinate with other trades and communicate any potential issues to the main contractor.
* Promote and enforce safe working practices at all times.

Cara Charity Golf Day

💙⛳ £20,000 Raised for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) ⛳💙

A huge thank you from everyone at Cara Group to our clients, supply chain partners, sponsors, friends and supporters who joined us for our 2nd Cara Charity Golf Day in aid of Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and Liv's Fundraising Page ❤️ a cause very close to Cara Brickworks MD Neil Allen.

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we are proud to share that together we raised an amazing £20,000 🎉🎉

To put that into perspective, this funding could help provide cardiac screening for around 300 young people ❤️, supporting the early detection of potentially life-threatening heart conditions and helping to save lives.

The day was a tremendous success 🏌️‍♂️, bringing people together for a fantastic cause while raising awareness of the importance of cardiac screening in young people.
