Busy first full week back after the Christmas period, planning and Laying out the pathway of the year ahead.

A few changes have taken place over the last several weeks, one being the addition of two brand new vans to our fleet, this was a conscious decision based of our environmental impact and to bring us in line with the areas new Clean Air Zone policy.

Completion of works carried out at 20Stories bar & restaurant in Manchester. Due to the nature of the work it had to be completed over the course of 2 nights to avoid disruption to normal operations. It is important to maintain a level of flexibility to meet the clients needs especially in the hospitality sector.

Work carried out;

1/ New cladded ceiling fitted in their refrigerated Drinks Store.

2/ New bar floor covering prepared and fitted.

Working at Amazon Warrington on Saturday as it was their annual lockdown day, this allows them to carry out essential maintenance with minimum impact. Coming up to the Christmas period our job for the day was to set out 200+ Anti slip mats, and secure with 2500 screws fitted in a 10 hour shift.

Update on the extension started at the beginning of the week, Excavations completed
Concrete has been poured and brick work has been built up to damp. Drainage has been rerouted and building inspector given the ok.
Subfloor has been laid and whacked

Relocation of the bike shed fitted at MMU 8 months prior.
Due to the ever changing environment at the university, we where asked to relocate the bike shed to a different location on the campus, the new location was not ideal to take the weight of the unit so we had to first set concrete pad stones into the ground to suit the feet.
We also had to fabricate feet for the unit to level the unit on uneven ground.
From start to finish the relocation 2 day turn around

Quite a simple job but the results for the staff is a easy to maintain food prep area, freeing up more time to spend with the service users.

As the new roof was being fitted it became apparent that the external skin of brickwork had pulled away from the internal skin.
This was an Emergency call out to rectify the problem to ensure roof went on and production with the foundry resume.
We at Owens pride ourselves on our adaptability to meet clients specific needs.

One of our room renovation packages at the .
In this particular room our team replaced and retiled the wet-room floor.
The timber subfloor was removed and a grout compound mix was used, producing a more water tight finish.
The tray was also replaced with a heavy duty composite rather then the standard foam formed, making the room future proof for years to come 👍

Working at such an iconic building such as the we get to do the most interesting projects.
Here we have the first lot of picture of uplift of the hotels ballroom stage ! This included rebuilding the stage wall, and patching and panting the back stage area, the the ethos was keeping the renovation authentic.
