Planning Approval – Collaborating with Stanton Andrews Architects we recently received full planning consent for a replacement dwelling and landscaping for a private home in Lancashire.

The site presented exciting challenges in landform as a sloping site with beautiful views across the Ribble Valley.

The split level house created the opportunity for an interesting sequence of terraces, feature steps, retaining structures and sweeping sloping paths, providing an attractive series of spaces to use within the garden.

Garden design for a Lutyens-listed property in Cumbria.

This project involved the creation of a new wedding garden designed to accommodate outdoor ceremonies and private events within the setting of a historic listed estate.

The planting scheme combined strong structural form with layers of seasonal interest, ensuring the garden remains visually appealing throughout the year.

Integrated lighting was carefully incorporated to enhance the atmosphere and allow the space to transition seamlessly from daytime gatherings into evening celebrations and ceremonies.

Allium season is officially in full swing ✨

Perfectly rounded heads of star-shaped florets rise above slender stems, creating a striking contrast against softer planting

Alliums bring structure, height, and a sense of order to the late spring border

Friday Focus 💫

Swales are shallow, vegetated channels designed to manage rainwater where it falls.

Instead of water rushing straight into drains, swales slow the flow, allowing it to soak into the ground. This helps reduce surface flooding, recharge groundwater, and trap sediments and pollutants before they reach rivers.

They’re a key part of SUDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems), especially in urban areas where hard surfaces increase runoff.

Simple design, but they play a big role in managing water more sustainably.

Corten steel bringing warmth, texture, and timeless character to the garden 🌿✨

Durable, low-maintenance, and endlessly versatile—perfect for edging, planters, screens, or statement features

A design feature that ages as gracefully as the landscape itself

A well-placed water feature can completely shift a garden and it’s feel

The gentle sound, the way it catches the light, the sense of calm it brings—it creates more of an experience within the landscape

From still, reflective pools to softly flowing fountains, water features add movement, depth, and structure to any design
