We carried out a sustainable HVAC upgrade at the Pendulum Hotel and Conference Centre in Manchester.

The installation was carefully planned to run during normal business hours, ensuring there was no disruption to the hotel’s day-to-day operations or its guests.

Acting as Principal Contractor under CDM regulations, we delivered the installation of low-energy Daikin air conditioning systems, improving both efficiency and overall performance.

Alongside the system upgrade, we also modernised the Building Management System (BMS), replacing outdated controls with an advanced front-end. This now provides detailed performance insights and remote access, giving the site team greater visibility and control.

Projects like this highlight the value of careful planning, modern systems, and a considered approach when working in occupied spaces!

Our Industrial team completed a specialist ventilation installation designed to provide conditioned air into food cold stores.

The project included the supply, installation and commissioning of mechanical and electrical building services, supporting precise environmental control within critical cold storage areas.

With exceptionally low operating temperatures, standard HVAC approaches weren’t suitable. By working closely with the client, a coordinated mechanical, electrical and controls solution was developed to ensure reliable, robust performance where it matters most.

We delivered a cooling upgrade for a European packaging manufacturer based in the UK, where temperatures in high-heat printing areas were regularly exceeding 30 °C during warmer months.

The facility produces packaging for food, medical supplies, pet food and everyday consumer goods, where stable environmental conditions are essential for maintaining consistent production.

COSAF designed and installed a low-energy evaporative cooling system, combining 17 cooling units with coordinated roof extract ventilation and BMS controls. The solution reduces peak temperatures while maintaining stable conditions for production, without relying on conventional refrigeration.

This approach resulted in an energy-efficient cooling strategy that lowers operating costs by 73.6% and substantially improves working conditions during summer operation.

A leaking roof doesn’t always need replacing. At a large purpose built student accommodation in Manchester, roof issues were resolved through refurbishment rather than a full replacement, reducing cost, disruption and downtime for the client.

Using our Polyurea waterproofing system, 1,700m² of roof and gutters were refurbished to create a seamless, watertight finish installed directly over the existing roof, all delivered with zero operational disruption.

The result is a long-term solution backed by 25-year BBA certification, a 20-year product guarantee, and a 10-year COSAF labour warranty.

We’ve just completed a next-generation HVAC design-and-build project for a secure, high-demand industrial print environment operating 24/7.

The brief was simple but critical: maintain stable positive pressure and fixed air change rates year-round, keep large production halls comfortable, and manage VOC dilution for staff safety and process reliability while production continued.

Our solution combined 100% fresh air cooling using zero GWP evaporative technology, high-efficiency heating, inverter-driven extract and intelligent controls integrated into the site BMS for data logging, performance optimisation and fault monitoring. This installation also utilises the largest IDEC evaporative coolers available on the global market.
