Another smooth finish on site.

These photos show a liquid screed installation over an underfloor heating system, completed as part of a Walford Construction project. The screed is pumped directly into place, flowing around the heating pipes to create an even, level surface ready for the next stage of the build.

A properly installed screed helps support an efficient underfloor heating system, while giving the project a clean, consistent base for the final floor finish.

Full UFH pipe encapsulation is one of the primary benefits when using a liquid screed.

Big kit, tight spaces

You don’t really appreciate how much specialised kit goes into modern screeding until you stand next to one of Clockwork’s trucks. They’re mobile plants in their own right, mixing, pumping and managing both insulation and screed from one unit, instead of half a dozen different bits of equipment scattered around site.

What’s just as impressive is where those trucks end up. Our drivers spend their days threading 26-tonne vehicles into estate roads, tight farm tracks and busy mixed-use sites that look like they were never meant to see a truck at all. They’re used to squeezing into awkward corners, setting up safely, then quietly getting on with the job.

Once we’re in position, the kit does the rest: insulation poured first, underfloor heating installed, then screed batched and pumped to where it’s needed. For the site team, it often feels like a lot of moving parts have suddenly been handled by one unit and one team

Is 75mm really the right thickness for your next screed job?

With modern liquid screeds you can often drop to 40–50mm without compromising performance, and still support underfloor heating, tiles and LVT. Thinner screeds use less material, reduce drying time, and can help tighten the programme.

Thinner floors that still perform
