🚨 WARNING: Rogue Locksmith Scams Are Still Happening! 🔑
I’m sharing this BBC video to raise awareness of rogue locksmiths who charge extortionate prices and take advantage of people when they’re locked out.
⚠️ These companies often appear at the top of Google through paid adverts, using their ability to pay for advertising to attract customers. It’s not uncommon to hear of people being charged £700+ for a simple lockout!
💷 How does the scam work?
They advertise tempting prices of £39–£49 to get you through the door. Once they arrive, the bait-and-switch begins. You’re told you have a high-security lock that needs drilling, with the price suddenly jumping to hundreds of pounds.
🔧 In some cases, they may lack the skills or equipment to attempt non-destructive entry. They drill the lock, leaving you needing a replacement as well — and suddenly that £49 call-out has turned into a bill of £700–£800!
✅ Our advice? Save the number of a trusted, professional locksmith before you ever need one. When you’re locked out, you don’t want to be making a rushed decision under pressure.
