Two sets of stairs made from rustic natural oak. Bold, large platforms at the ground floor invite entry and wonderfully fill the interior space. These platforms also create a useful seating area. It's noteworthy that the ground floor stairs are on a central stringer, while the first-floor stairs are cantilevered. Black cantilever stairs that I completed in East London. What catches the eye is the perfectly matched design of the stairs to the interior. The client only outlined the most important details of the home's design for me. Although I avoid and even refuse to match the stairs' color to that of the floor for clients, in this case, this color combination seemed to be the only right direction. Thus, the color of the stairs is a result of the floor color, and the absence of risers stemmed from the need to brighten the interiors and add lightness to the black stairs. Additionally, the glass and the effect... voila.
