here we have a 120 year old original slate roof been battered by the weather, it’s lasted 2 world wars and she’s still holding it together but we want to bring new life into this offshoot, so we stripped her and gave her a full, re-roof was able to save 160 of the original slate, rest were too weak to put back on. we bought a load of newer reclaimed welsh slate to go back on which has brought new life into this offshoot.

i really enjoy slating, and we should do more slate roofs and stop using concrete tiles they look terrible after a few years. covered in green moss, and snap 🫰

least you get a 100+ years with a good solid welsh slate.

Completed, a Job in Market Weighton, a full chimney stack, mortar raked, re-pointed with 4 sand 1 cement 1 lime, mixed with SBR and plasticiser, for a creamy mix, very nice to work with when re-pointing the stack, measured and installed new code 4 and code 5 lead step flashing and ridge lead saddle. And plenty of patination oil, to give that dark lead colour.

Very pleased of the outcome 🙂

Completed a Job in Pocklington (york) for a wonderful couple

Was even offered a bacon 🥓 sandwich 🥪 🙂

Couldn’t of met a nicer pair.

We stripped out the old valley, that had been cemented over in the past and painted over with a waterproof sealer. But leaks were still persistent.

Once we stripped out the Valley and, cleaned all the rubble out, removed the valley cut tiles.

We installed wood, boards and felted over the wooden boards, to then install lead, in 1.5m sections to allow expansion and contraction of lead in response to temperature changes to prevent it from cracking or splitting

Once installed we measured new / reclaimed concrete tiles to match existing, roof tiles.

And re-cut the valley tiles to allow plenty of roof for water flow. And cemented under the tiles and point & brush.

All rubbles taken away and area swept 🧹
