Are you considering the cheap 'plugin' solar!
Government is suggesting people use plugin solar purchased from stores to reduce their bills, payback in 7 years or so?.
As we know these plugin solar systems aren't yet legal in the UK albeit you can purchase them from Amazon, plug them into a socket an feed your home.
The IET are now urging people to get their houses checked before considering using them🤔
This is definitely wise recommendations:
- MOST RCDs (safety deivices) in houses will fail to work , most aren't designed to be bidirectional and are affected by DC currents.
- There are serious risks to trades without appropriate labelling won't expect circuits to be live when isolated. Islanding protection isn't always included in some cheap devices.
- Old wiring a fails in socket circuits may cause overloading and ultimately a fire 🔥 risk.
