REMODEL & EXTENSION
This derelict 1960's bungalow property is set on in a large plot, overlooking over the Derwent Valley (and the World Heritage Site corridor).
The frontage is designed to read as a traditional cottage integrating seamlessly with the established vernacular and street-scene. The cascading side of the property transitions into a contemporary split-level family home at the rear; maximising on the panoramic views and south-west aspect solar gains! The zinc-clad extension and canopies zig-zag downwards to emphasise the sloped site.

GARDEN ROOM/ ANNEX/ GIN BAR ?

Aside from our day-to-day studio; did you know that we also design & build bespoke garden structures, with an architectural flair ?
:
We've just received full planning permission for this annex at a property in Derbyshire. The building has been designed as a flexible space, offering living space-come-guest annex, Kitchenette, Shower Room and a dedicated Home Office for our client.
:
The design of the annex has been based around the existing lush garden and the movement of the sun throughout the year with the split level roof and protruding corner glazing. The facade uses a mixture of horizontally aligned natural timber cladding and a contrasting, vertical 'charred timber' cladding

CONCEPT DESIGN

It's been a while since our last post; we've had a really busy and productive year - but we know we need to share more content (no social media awards incoming!)

Here is an early concept sketch for one of our latest projects; a large farmhouse extension & renovation in the Peak District.
:
The dilapidated farmhouse is being re-modelled internally, whilst a two-storey rear extension has been designed to link up with an existing range of outbuildings creating two external courtyards. The design is playful, yet elegant - picking up on the strong gabled forms and materials / colour tones found in and around the farmyard.

PROJECT COMPLETE (Before & After)
This 1960s split level house in the Derbyshire Dales was in much need of some TLC and modernisation.
The property is set on in a large plot, on the edge of a woodland looking over the Derwent Valley.
The brief ; to create a large open Plan Kitchen / Dining / Living area to maximise on the views out and remodel internally to create a Utility Room and some lighter, brighter areas.
External insulated render was used on the lower half to improve the thermal performance, with a dark Oak cladding on the upper storey, to help it blend into its woodland setting. A large apex window was introduced to capture the views.

CONCEPT DESIGN
Friday throwback to a concept design for a couple who were looking at purchasing a house, but wanted to understand its potential prior to purchase.
:
By undertaking some minor internal alterations and forming a two-storey gable/dormer, the house was transformed into the perfect family home with large open plan Kitchen / Diner, additional bathroom and Master Bedroom with ensuite.

PLANNING PERMISSION
Delighted to announce that Planning Permission has been granted for a large contemporary rear extension and internal re-modelling scheme 😁 🏡
:
The existing property; a lovely, characterful Victorian villa needed something to contrast the red brick. The solution was a heavily glazed extension with angled Larch cladding and thick zinc-clad border to frame the Dining area and over sail the corner glazing.
:
A rendered wall and grass sedum roof was introduced to soften the elevation and tie it into its semi-rural setting, adjacent open farmland.

The new extension creates a large open plan Kitchen, Living and Dining room, Boot room, Utility and downstairs shower room.
