We are delighted to have had a planning appeal allowed for this barn conversion project in the South Derbyshire Greenbelt!
Having been recommended for approval by the planning officer the planning application was refused by the planning committee. The reasons given were that the proposal involved inappropriate development in the greenbelt and involved extensive extension and alterations. The appeal inspector found these reasons to be unfounded and could see the visual enhancement offered by the design and the reduced overall impact upon the openness of the Greenbelt - the proposed extension replaces a detached stable block that projects further into the greenbelt.
So after 2 years (due to numerous planning delays and lengthy appeal process) we can now help the client progress towards a start on site! Very exciting!
The delays encountered are symptomatic of the underlying problems with the planning system and such delays have a big impact upon our workload programming, the workload of the construction industry/supply chain, not to mention the client’s plans and aspirations.
