While one of our Contracts Managers was surveying ash dieback works, he identified a mature ash tree with a severe split running down the main stem.
The tree was situated beside a 50 mph dual carriageway on a blind bend, presenting a significant risk to road users. It was immediately reported to the client, who quickly arranged an emergency road closure for the following evening.
Our team safely dismantled the tree using a 20-metre track-mounted MEWP, a whole-tree Bandit tracked chipper and a 3-tonne Bobcat to feed the chipper.
A great example of proactive site awareness, effective communication and everyone working together to protect the public and resolve a potentially dangerous situation before it became an incident.
