We will be showing and hosting this weekend Bonsall Arts Trail come and say hello and check out tonnes of local artists!

David Hodgson is a self-taught woodworker who honed his skills during the restoration of his home. He now creates pieces of furniture and a range of stylised animals, such as goose doorstops, sheep kitchen roll holders, and duck utensil stands. He also makes signs for houses and gardens. He is currently developing a range of goods made from barrel staves these include whisky flight boards, wax melt burners, table floor lamps and a range of furniture which is currently at the prototype stage.

Busy making stock for the next event, not sure if I will manage to get everything finished but progress has been good over the last few days.

Come and have a look what Sheila and I have been doing. Along with approx 80 other artists we will have a display at Bonsall open arts running over the weekend of 20th and 21st June. Entry to the show is only £5.00 and if it is anything like previous years it is well worth the money.

My stand is in the garage at 65 Church Street. Jane from silver Silkie will have a display in the house (No 10 on the trail) Would love to see you and have a chat about the new ranges of products we have been developing.

Sheila and i have been getting ready for the Derbyshire makers market at peak Village Rowsley. Stock made, car packed and ready to go. Market open Sat, Sun, Mon. 10 till 4. if you have time come and have a chat and see what we have been making. Several new lines so plenty to talk about. See you there.

Back home after 4 lovely days at Tissington for the well dressing. Thanks to Annie from Eazicraft in the village who again offered us a space to display the woodwork and although it was quite cold , we managed to chat to loads of lovely people, sold some stock and had suggestions for further developing some of the range of things I make.

To the gent who purchased the barrel stave bar stool, thank you for trusting us with it and even though you had paid us, kindly agreed to leave it with us for display. It is now back home, so please get in touch so we can arrange collection or delivery.

Our next event is the Derbyshire makers bank holiday exhibition starting Sat 23rd at 10 a.m. and running until 4 p.m. on Mon. 25th. We will be at Peak village in Rowsley, so if you have time please come and say hello. If it is anything like last year it will be well worth a visit

Finally join us in Bonsall for the Bonsall Arts Trail from Saturday 20th to Sunday 21st of June. Myself and Mrs H will be hosting a local artist as well as showcasing the latest pieces from the workshop.

A recent job restoring some lovely beech kitchen chairs. Pulled apart, new dowels made and reglued with new wedges in bottom of styles on backs. Bit of a rush job as I am going to be out of the workshop having had spinal surgery on 07/02. Although I am now back home it feels like it might take a while to get back to creativity.

Further development of the barrel stave furniture. This time a bar stool. Prototype with solid wooden top, but could be upholstered as an alternative. Different heights could be made according to height of table/bar. See mrhwoodwork.co.uk for all the details.
