I also produce structural surveys for homebuyers as well as site inspections. I am Marcin and I am a structural engineer with a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering. I graduated in 2006. Have you observed white staining or powdery deposits on your masonry walls, or perhaps noticed chipped edges on bricks or concrete blocks? This is not a cause for concern. Efflorescence can be effectively treated, and damaged bricks or blocks can likely be attributed to poor quality materials and water ingress, which expands during winter months, causing damage. Fortunately, these issues can be remedied. Please see the comments for guidance on repair solutions.

Are you concerned about potential settlement issues in your home? It's essential to note that not all cracks indicate settlement problems, and not all out-of-plumb walls are a result of progressive movement. There may be alternative explanations for these issues, and consulting an experienced Structural Engineer is the best course of action. If you have noticed cracks in your cavity wall, especially stepped or the wall is bulging, this might be sign of wall ties corrosion. Current wall ties are made of stainless steel but before mid 80s the wall ties were made of mild steel which can corrode quicker and at the same time it can expand 7x the original size. Be assured this is not the end of the world and it can be easily repaired. Some of the solutions you can find under the below link to Permagard products:
