In honour of that poor 9 year old boy tragically struck by lightning yesterday while at football training 😭😭 and to show compassion, solidarity and support to his family, friends and coaches etc...I'm hoping you'll all follow us and post 9 football's on your wall.

Are blocked drains covered by your home insurance?

It's a question we are often asked so we thought we’d pop on and answer it for you....

As a homeowner, you are only responsible for the drains within your property boundary.

Because you are responsible for the maintenance of these drains, any collapses or damage caused by neglect or misuse will not be covered by insurance – you'll have to pay for repairs yourself.

It therefore pays to ensure you keep your drains well maintained and clear of any blockages.

Its a simple fact that oil and grease clog your pipes but we are all guilty of disposing of it down our kitchen sinks! 😳

The oil and grease from our food when poured down our sinks builds up in the pipes and over time leads to drainage problems 😬... even the smallest amount will eventually lead to issues!

So STOP ❌

Let's start disposing of oils, grease and fats the right way...here's how:

1️⃣ Allow hot oil and grease to cool down

2️⃣ Remove it from your pans and/or baking trays;

- Small amounts: wipe up using kitchen roll or newspaper and dispose of it in your bin / compost.

- Large amounts: pour cooled oil / grease into a container, add lid and then dispose of accordingly.

Simple changes can make a massive difference 👌
