After much thought and personal reasons, I’ve made the decision to close my business.

This journey has been filled with learning, growth, challenges, and moments I’ll always be proud of. I’m incredibly grateful to every client, customer, supporter, and collaborator who trusted me and supported the business along the way, none of this would have been possible without you.

Thank you for being part of this chapter. While this chapter is coming to an end, I’m excited to carry the skills, lessons, and experiences I’ve gained into what comes next.

It’s been a while since our last post, we’ve been busy with ongoing projects and wrapping up a few outstanding jobs.

We thought we’d give you a behind the scenes look at what goes into a staircase renovation here at BlackStream, Carpentry & Joinery — the part most people don’t get to see.

So far, we’ve prepped 78 spindles, 9 posts, 10 hand/base rails, and lots of trims, all first coated with lacquer and sanded. Still to come: the second coat and a final polish.

This project is a first for us, and we’re excited to see how it turns out! It features box newels and double twisted spindles, so it’s definitely going to be a standout.

After an intensive first month on site installing the staircase, doors, wood panelling, and window surrounds, followed by regular fortnightly visits, we’re pleased to share that our part of the work is now complete.

It’s been an incredible transformation since we began back in April, and the results are truly remarkable. We look forward to returning one day to see the house in its full glory once everything is finished.

This project involved replacing rotten porch supports with beautiful, durable sapele hardwood, finished in a smooth Selimix spray coat to match the new uPVC cladding we also installed above.
