BELLWAY GIVES BUYERS A SNEAK PEEK OF NEW SKELLOW DEVELOPMENT

Bellway Homes is giving would-be buyers a taste of what life would be like at its brand-new Skellow development by releasing a series of images of some of the homes they’ll be building.

Cromwell Grange is being built just off Crabgate Lane on the outskirts of the South Yorkshire village And sales on the 200-home development will begin at 11am on Saturday 19th September, 2026 - with launch prices revealed just a few days before.

The homes at Cromwell Grange will include two-bedroom bungalows and ground-floor maisonettes, which are being built to meet the specific need for wheelchair accessible properties. While a further 130 houses have been designed to be more accessible and adaptable to suit people’s changing needs throughout their lifetimes.

The sneak peek images include the Baydale two-bedroom bungalows, a four-bedroom detached, Bowyer and thee-bedroom semi-detached Tailor.

Melanie Smith, Bellway Yorkshire’s sales director, said: “Our aim with every development is to build forever homes and what better way to do this than by designing more accessible and adaptable homes. With people living longer this flexibility not only provides a great selling point but also gives peace of mind that your home can be adapted around your needs rather than you having to move because of them.”

“And Cromwell Grange’s appeal doesn’t stop there. It really does have everything – from quality homes to a tranquil village location; making it a place that people will be proud to call home.”

The homes being built are all part of The Bellway Collection, which showcases the best in contemporary home design, while also celebrating the artisan traditions at the heart of Bellway’s rich heritage. And, as with all new Bellway homes, the new homes in Skellow are built to first-rate specifications; including energy saving features such as solar PV panels, EV car chargers and Smart Thermostats that all help to cut the cost of running a new home.

As part of its commitment to the local community, Bellway is investing £65,000 on public transport improvements, which will be spent on local bus services 51, 351 and 361; £30k on a solar powered bus shelter (number 45886) that sits within vicinity of Cromwell Grange; £160k on Biodiversity Net Gains (BNG) initiatives at Red Bank Farm; and £50,000 for environmental improvements to the River Skell.

“With all that in mind, my advice for would-be buyers is simple,” concluded Melanie. “Register early so you can be amongst the first to hear all the big development news – from initial launch prices to the incentive schemes we’ll be offering to help people buy here in Skellow.”

SECOND PHASE OF HOMES LAUNCHED AT ROTHERHAM DEVELOPMENT

HOMEBUILDER Redrow is launching a second phase of homes at its popular Ravenfield development.

Poppy Fields, located off Moor Lane South, is taking shape as a thriving new community, which will eventually bring 240 homes for private sale and 80 affordable properties.

Steve Jackson, sales director at Redrow Yorkshire, said: “Since we began building at Poppy Fields, it has attracted a diverse range of buyers from first time buyers and downsizers to growing families keen to put down roots. It continues to reinforce the demand for high-quality new build homes in this very sought-after place to live.

“The homes at Poppy Fields have family-friendly layouts, gardens and access to green open space on the development. Once complete, Poppy Fields will also feature a play area and a community orchard, so it’s easy to see why it’s proving such a popular choice amongst buyers.”

The development offers a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom designs, all from Redrow’s Heritage Collection.

Properties released on the second phase include The Stratford Lifestyle. Built on the footprint of what would normally be a four-bedroom detached property, instead, Redrow’s Lifestyle properties were originally created with downsizers in mind, or people who wanted fewer bedrooms but did not want to sacrifice space or style.

The Stratford Lifestyle boasts an open plan kitchen / dining / family room, a separate lounge and cloakroom. Upstairs there are three double bedrooms, each with their own en-suite. Prices start from £385,000.

For those looking for a larger property there is The Hampstead which has an open plan kitchen, family and dining area spanning the width of the house to the rear. There is also a separate lounge, utility and integral double garage. Upstairs are five bedrooms, two with their own en-suite and a family bathroom. Prices start from £540,000.

Property fall-through rates of 34.6%, 45% and 58% have all been reported recently. They aren't necessarily contradictory, they measure different things.

So, does anyone actually know how many property sales fall through?

Depending on whose research you read, the proportion of property sales falling through might be around a third, 45% or even 58%. They cannot all be the fall-through rate.

As an independent publishers ourselves, this is not what you want to hear when you've put a bumper issue together.

It appears the September Mendip Times did ultimately get printed, but not by the original printer.

Happyish ending in the end.

Interesting to see Harron Homes popping up in Property Soup today. We regularly publish news from Harron Homes across our own Facebook and LinkedIn pages, supplied to us by their PR agency Unsworth Sugden Group.

This latest story follows a Doncaster couple who bought their first Harron home in 2023 and have now used Part Exchange to move into a larger Harron property at De Maulay Manor. Clearly we're not the only property publication that likes a bit of Harron news!

Natalie and Nathan Brady bought their first property at Harron Homes' Wyndthorpe Chase development in September 2023.
