The brief
With his impressive new-build in Formby, our client wanted to create the ultimate ‘forever’ home – one that would exactly satisfy every wish and requirement. Certainly, this home very skilfully blends a modern and traditional aesthetic, but that presented the challenge of creating doors that complement the building’s unique ‘look’ as well as producing a coherent whole. Another challenge here was the unusual thickness of the property’s walls.
Bespoke solutions
We produced a beautiful, extra-tall entrance door fitted between handsome bespoke side transoms, also made by us. The door itself is our Toba style, finished in an OohLaLa bespoke veneer and fitted with a Phillip Watts handle, completing a look of impressive simplicity. Meanwhile, a double drop-down seal provides superb airtightness against the wind and cold. Inside, we fitted Vario 4 internal doors in walnut, installing each one with its corresponding architrave, made bespoke in dimensions to suit the wall’s thickness. The beautiful tones in these doors works well in all areas of the house, regardless of natural light.
Overall, another satisfying project successfully completed, with the added reassurance that our precision engineering helped deliver excellent airtightness.
