After years of being forgotten about, work has started at the Mill of Benholm again.
A.J.Carnegie Electrical Contractor, Montrose has undertaken the testing of the electrical installation. They will start repairing and bringing the electrical installation back to safe working order and in line with current regulations over the next few weeks. This will be followed by repairs to the plumbing to reinstate the toilets back to working order by George Milne, Montrose and the checking of the pumps by Ferrier Pumps, Aberdeen. The reed bed will be assessed by the Sustainable Water Company and they will also clear the mill pond of all excess vegetation over the winter.
The access is currently being worked on to make it safe to go down to the mill.
A lot is happening, which unfortunately costs a lot. We would like to say a huge thank you to the Aberdeenshire Council Mearns & Kincardineshire Area Committee for allocating £5,000 towards this work. We would also like to thank TAQA for helping with £900 towards the costs of the clearing of the pond.
