Out with the old 👋

A redundant soil vent pipe removed, the opening in the roof timbers properly repaired, then re-slated using random-sized Scotch slate to blend back into the existing roof.

A much tidier finish — and one less unnecessary pe*******on through the roof.

Every shower pumps warm, moisture-filled air into the house. If the bathroom isn’t properly vented outside, that moisture can find its way into the roof space — and that’s where the expensive problems start.

This bathroom had no external ventilation at all. Correct tile vent now fitted, giving that moisture somewhere to go other than into the roof.

Small fix now. Potentially a massive bill avoided later.

Another tired felt flat roof stripped back and replaced with a new GRP fibreglass roofing system.

GRP is a liquid-applied system that cures to create a tough, seamless and fully waterproof finish.

With no joints or seams, it’s extremely durable, low maintenance and gives a clean finish that’s built to last.

Keeping the rain out is only half the job…

This disused chimney had been capped with a piece of slate cemented directly over the pot. It may have stopped rain getting in, but it also completely sealed the flue, leaving no airflow and increasing the risk of condensation and damp inside.

I removed the old slate and fitted a purpose-made C-Cap chimney cowl. It keeps out rain, debris and nesting birds while still providing the ventilation a disused chimney needs.

Protected from above, ventilated below—and a much neater job all round. 👌🏠

🚚 Before and after!

This customer’s roof was damaged after being struck by a delivery truck, leaving broken slates and badly damaged guttering.

We stripped out the damaged materials, replaced the broken slates and installed new guttering to match the existing system—leaving the roof secure, watertight and looking tidy again. 🏠✅

At BNI Nexus Montrose, we're passionate about supporting our local community.

Through our weekly fundraising activities, including Head & Tails, our members have raised more than £2,000 which has been distributed to 10 fantastic local organisations.

Donations have helped support:

• Hillside Baby & Toddler Group – helping keep their doors open and upgrading toys and equipment
• The Montrose Society – funding a new projector screen
• Ferryden Playgroup – purchasing new sensory equipment
• Ferryden Early Learning Centre – developing their outdoor garden area
• Montrose Youth Rugby (Montrose Rugby Club)– supporting a youth rugby tournament
• Montrose Floral Art Club – funding flowers and materials for a demonstration event
• Montrose Horticultural Society – providing prizes for their annual show
