It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leslie English at 90 years young, founder of English Furnishings. We will be closed tomorrow Tuesday 10th June for his funeral. The family have requested no flowers. Donations to The British Heart Foundation and Prostate Cancer UK will be greatly appreciated.

This chair was in a very poor state and had been attempted to be reupholstered in the past using some modern techniques and materials. Although the chair is an antique we discussed the options with our customer and explained that using modern materials and techniques is completely fine when executed correctly. The cost saving on using modern materials is significant and the end product often far more comfortable so the decision was made and trust put in us to restore the chair using these modern techniques. The chair is now complete and delivered to Gateshead and looks very smart in this Swaffer fabric.

This is a beautiful antique Bergere suite we have restored for a new customer from Sunderland. The seats have been hand sprung using traditional double cone springs on best black and white webbing. Our customer wanted to give the suite a fresh smart look with this stripe from ROMO fabrics. She was stunned at the quality of finish we produced and was thrilled that we managed to restore the original sprung Pullman seat cushions. We also retained the feather back cushions which make the suite very comfortable. I'm sure we will have more work from herself and also friends and family.
