The first project of the year has been challenging, this 19th century sandstone building had a number of sub standard repairs over the years and due to that the roof timbers had badly failed along with all the window sills .

The client wanted to keep as many of the original timber mouldings as possible to retain the character of the house ,, we replaced a badly failed internal gutter and changed lead details around windows .

The roof was slated using la luz 400x250mm Spanish slate with copper nails and Aidan my apprentice even spent some time to install some designs on the roof all individually hand cut .

Just some finishing touches to be done.

Thanks again to Scaff Accsess Coatbridge and D.S Joinery for there help with this job .

Well ,, what can I say unfortunately Aidan never got a place in the 3 final places for the national finals for skillbuild

However ……. I have watched Aidan over the last few days work so hard with so much determination, passion ,, and his attention to detail was outstanding,, he can leave here with his head held high and know we are all so proud of him .

It has been an amazing experience being here watch his fellow competitors compete in this competition, the high standards from them all was clear to see , there are going to be some first class roofers

Well what can I say ,, immensely proud of Aidan ,, after a hard 3 days he’s put in to this competition the wait is nearly over to find out what place he has come ,, no matter what the outcome come he has absolutely smashed this !!! A big thanks to Ross Hepburn aswell his lecturer from south Lanarkshire college for his support aswell ,,

Now off to the award ceremony good luck !!!!
