Today we’re proud to share a significant step forward for Gensource.

We’ve joined forces with longstanding home energy company Solar Kingdom, strengthening our ability to deliver high‑quality renewable energy solutions across Scotland.

Solar Kingdom brings 17 years of trusted experience in domestic solar, with the same experienced team continuing their work - now supported by the wider Gensource Group.

Our Managing Director, Josh King, said:

“Solar Kingdom has built a trusted reputation in home energy over many years. Bringing that expertise into the Gensource Group strengthens our ability to deliver high‑quality residential solar, storage, EV charging and heat pumps across Scotland.”

Solar Kingdom owner, Gregor Thake, said:

“Since being introduced to Gensource, I’ve been impressed with how they go about their business. They’ve shown they’re excellent at what they do, and their growing client base is a real testament to that.

When this opportunity came along, it was one I couldn’t ignore. It made complete sense, and I’m looking forward to strengthening the offering from Gensource.”

From solar, storage and heating to our growing role as a charge point operator, this nomination reflects not just growth, but consistency and long‑term ambition.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey so far! We’re looking forward to the awards in September.

An interesting piece in The Guardian explores why falling battery costs, rising energy prices, and smarter tariffs could soon make domestic battery storage far more mainstream.

The big shift is control: storing electricity when it’s cheap, or generated on site, and using it later when grid prices are higher.

It’s a timely read for anyone thinking about solar PV, EV charging, heat pumps, or simply looking to future‑proof their home against ongoing energy price volatility.

Last week, the team headed out for a day at Go Ape!, and it didn’t disappoint.

The treetop challenge and the team games came with loads of encouragement, patience, and plenty of laughter. A great reminder of the value of stepping away from our usual routines and spending time together as a team. 🌿

Big thanks to the Gensource team for all the hard work day-to-day, it was really nice to take a breather, have some fun, and properly bond as a team. And a shout out to the Go Ape! team for having us and making it such a brilliant day out!

What a fantastic couple of days at Solar & Storage Live 2026!

Here are a few highlights from the event. Josh King and Aodha O'Carroll (Senior Public Affairs Adviser at SEUK) took part in a thoughtful discussion on the Scottish and Welsh elections, exploring their impact on the key priorities of the devolved administrations. The session also featured valuable insights from Alastair Stewart (Account Director at Orbit Communications) and Cathy Owens (Director at Cavendish Cymru).

And, of course, it wouldn’t be complete without taking a moment to appreciate the beautiful London sunset. a perfect way to round off a great day

Thank you to everyone who joined us over the two days. It was great to connect, and we're looking forward to continuing these conversations as the sector moves forward.

It was brilliant to be back at Kirkliston Primary School! This time not to install, but to share the story behind the project.

After completing the school’s solar PV system in October 2025, Rob returned to speak with pupils about what the panels are doing daily, and why renewable energy matters for their school and their future.

The rooftop system is 81 kWp (made up of 180 panels) and is expected to generate around 71.57 MWh of clean electricity each year, cutting carbon by 13.84 tonnes annually. That’s the carbon saving equivalent of planting 636 trees, every single year. 🌳See a snippet of the slide used during Rob’s presentation for a few more fun conversions.

Projects like this are a great reminder that sustainability isn’t just about equipment. It’s about education, curiosity, and showing young people that climate action can be practical, local, and real.

A huge thank you to the staff at Kirkliston for welcoming Rob in, and for continuing to champion sustainability within the school community.
