Another day, another new build property with leather jacket damage. This lawn was sown in Spring after the turf had been destroyed by those pesky crane flies.

Combine a leather jacket infestation with clay soil that has minimal nutritional goodness, poor drainage and low quality turf you may end up with something like this customer faced at the start of 2024.

Luckily, there are now more effective means of cranefly control to help those with issues (a lot of the time recurring issues!) Acelpryn has been applied earlier in Autumn to prevent the same happening again this winter.

After a summer of establishment and a Lawnscience treatment programme this lawn is now looking like an actual lawn, and a good one at that if we may say so!

If you notice your lawn looking sorry for itself then drop us a message and we can provide a free survey to help establish the issue and offer a solution.

Not bad for 2/3 weeks under fleece. Awful soil on this one so its been sown with a mix of fescue and bents primarily. We started again and killed the existing w**d grasses etc. It should keep getting thicker and enjoy life a little more under that big oak tree than a Rye dominant lawn.

A nice place to spend a day removing years and years worth of thatch from this pretty walled garden. This will be looking as good as the front lawn which got attacked last year and is now looking fab!

Something a little different for Lawnscience Mid & South Hampshire this week - soft washing some hard surfaces in preparation for Spring (will it ever arrive!) We can also control unwanted vegetation on your hard surfaces throughout the year. With the weather looking to improve next week it's onto spring treatments and scarifications!

If you'd like to improve the look of your hard surfaces or lawn this year then contact (me) Matt on 07766114420 or drop me a DM via here.

As far as winter lawns go...This one's pretty impressive! This was scarified, top dressed and overseeded in autumn after the customer attempted some DIY lawn care and burnt the grass. It's amazing what can be achieved in winter if your lawn is not shaded, waterlogged and has a decent subsoil.... Unfortunately most aren't this easy but it's nice when they are!

Another year almost gone and just a quick note to say a huge thank you to all my customers for your continued custom during 2023.

I will be monitoring my emails during the Christmas break so please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I will be in contact in the New Year to undertake your winter treatment.

Instead of paying for printed cards to be delivered I have decided to make a donation to “A Touch Of Magic” who are fundraising for The Society of St James.

They are a Hampshire-based charity ran by one of my customers and provide a range of accommodation & support services to many vulnerable people in the region. The people they work with often have diverse & complex issues surrounding homelessness, including substance/alcohol addiction & mental health problems.

Pretty happy with the results of this renovation that I undertook in September. It was heavily damaged from last year's draught as the soil conditions are awful (this house and the others I tend to down the road suffer). The development was built on a prisoner of war camp so its shallow and full of rubble. Nothing down this road has been easy so it's great to see some good results.

We are booking up already for Spring so before my time is taken why not get in contact to see how your lawn can be improved or overhauled in 2024.

This is a job I undertook in Spring this year and it has had a couple of treatments since. It is coming along great and will continue to thicken up throughout autumn (if those leaves 🍃 are kept off!) It is due its Autumn treatment in the next few weeks to help get it through the winter.

This job was definitely not easy but I'm chuffed with the results and look forward to improving it further.

This lawn has been transformed since Spring. Turf had been laid by landscapers a couple of years ago, which by the looks of it was primarily Perennial Rye Grass based. This grass does look great initially and can do with the right maintenance but unfortunately does require more attention than other types due to its lack of ability to creep like a bent or fescue. There was also a mix of annual/meadow grasses in patches.

So, we decided to kill the existing vegetation and start again with a more suitable grass mix. I think the results speak for themselves.

🌼🏡 Embrace the Beauty of Wildflowers in Your Garden! 🌿🌸

These pictures have been sent in today from a happy Lawnscience customer! Part of the lawn has been transformed into a pretty wildflower meadow. We don't just do lawns!

We can help transform your garden by adding wildflowers alongside your lush green lawn. 🌱🌺 Not only will wildflowers bring a burst of vibrant colors, but they also offer several incredible benefits!

1️⃣ Biodiversity Boost: Wildflowers attract diverse pollinators like bees and butterflies, promoting a healthy ecosystem and enhancing the overall garden vitality. 🦋🐝

2️⃣ Low Maintenance: These resilient beauties require less watering and maintenance compared to traditional ornamental plants, saving time and effort. 💧⏳

3️⃣ Soil Health: Wildflowers help improve soil structure and fertility, making your garden soil healthier for other plants too. 🌱🌿

4️⃣ Eco-friendly: By planting wildflowers, you actively support native plant species and contribute to the conservation of local wildlife. 🦔🌼

5️⃣ Natural Charm: Wildflowers add a touch of natural charm, creating a harmonious blend with your well-maintained lawn. 🌺🌿

So, let's welcome the allure of wildflowers into our gardens. To see how we can help at Lawnscience Mid & South Hampshire speak to me (Matt) on 07766114420.

**Temporary delay to your treatment**

I hope you have been enjoying the lovely start to summer with this continued sunshine (although more rain would be very welcome now!)

I am writing to apologise for the delay in booking in your early summer treatment. I have recently sustained an ankle injury that has put me out of action but I am hoping to be back at it within a couple of weeks. I will probably be working at a reduced pace initially to avoid any complications so if you think your lawn requires attention asap or you have a garden event planned and you would like it in good shape beforehand let me know and I shall try to prioritize your lawn.

Many thanks,
Matt - Lawnscience Mid & South Hampshire
