Busy week last week. I unfortunately had to remove this copper beech as decay in the main union had caused half its canopy to fall onto the road below, causing a great danger and leaving the remaining tree unstable.
All safely down now.

Storm Darragh is starting to hit the local area.
If you have any concerns relating to your trees please get in touch.

Here are some signs that I look out for that signal concern as a professional tree inspector:

🌳 splits or cracks in the main stem or lateral branches

🌳 cracking soil and heave around the root collar of the tree

🌳 a tree that’s not bending or flexing is not a healthy tree they designed to flex to disperse the effects of strong winds

Send me a message or give me a call on 07545131665 if you have any concerns or if any damage occurs over night that you need emergency support with.

Another two days successfully completed of the flintham parish work.

On the list this week was to reduce the two large populars by 4 meters, this was to reduce the wind sail of the mature trees to ease the stress they face in high winds, which is important due to their location close to the cricket pitch and nets. I also brought back in the extended limbs toward the nets to reduce the tip weight on them so reducing chances of failure. The expanded growth and wood charistics of being weaker and prone to rot made this risk higher. You can see in one photo that one damaged limb was over a high traffic part of the cricket field.

Also a horse chestnut was reduce by 3 meters all around to take away weight from above the children’s playground which it was weighted towards and to rebalance the tree. The canopy was also lifted to allow better acces to the space, along with few other trees in the woodland belt, again increasing light ana access.

Just an update on what’s been going on down at the cricket pitch in Flintham as part of the ongoing parish council work.

One silver birch was removed as it had died and was standing dead. Therefore it posed a risk to the public due to risk of the full tree and parts of the upper canopy falling, causing great risk of injury to anyone below.

Another silver birch was on a similar trajectory, showing heavy canopy die back so was also removed due to the potential risk that it posed.

A horse chestnut was also removed. Unfortunately, it had heavy decay in the base of the stem, this compromised the structural integrity of the timber. It also had signs of decay in upper canopy, making the tree structurally unsound so unfortunately had to be removed as was in falling distance of the children’s play park.

Here are a few pictures to show the work being undertaken for your interest, and few pictures of Flintham from the trees 🌲
