As part of my current push into the motorsports world I painted this helmet for top hillclimb racer I dropped the helmet off in person for Alex and got to have a really good look around his incredible car. Unfortunately he had a minor technical mishap that weekend, but repairs are underway and I'm looking forward to seeing him back out on track shortly!
As for the helmet, the brief was clean and simple, incorporating his logo and his preferred colour palette of red white and blue. Often these clean and simple designs are surprisingly tricky to paint, as there is nowhere to hide so they have to be as close to perfect as possible! As a point of reference, the union Jack on the back is a mere 15mm tall, so it was a real mission to paint it so small!
