Last month we Installed 6kw curtain heaters in toilet and entrance and 3 2kw IR heaters over bar seating area for our freinds The Grove Newcastle to give the customers a bit warmth 🔥 over the colder months 🥶

Fault finding 🫠

When you're called out by a client who's electrics randomly tripped and find a swimming pool under their flooring.
This was a very different scenario to our more common fault finding call outs and the photos sadly do the severity no justice. Poor workmanship blocked the vents under the flooring, heavy rain allowed water to gradually flow in with no means of escape and very poor electrical workmanship led to numerous joint boxes submerged under the flooring.

What we did - even though its not our expertise we first cleared all the vent bricks of rubble and rubbish and isolated a number of points on the affected circuits around the house so partial power was restored and left it over the weekend hoping a pump wasn't required.
Returned Monday and thank fully the water had disapated. We then fully tested the premises and found numerous faults with half of the electrical points left in a poor state and earthing missing from half of the property giving little to no method of basic protection.
Eradicated all methods of poor workmanship by stripping half the downstairs circuit out and rewiring a second radial circuit giving back complete electrical coverage to the ground floor.
Installed a new consumer unit with independent RCD protection per circuit instead of the entire premises. This also ensures that the property is bang up to date and fully compliant with the current regs.

Fault finding can sometimes be easy and basic, but at times can be the most complex and sometimes unexplainable issue. Luckily the customer called the North East's fault finding experts Smartlec Systems.
