♿ We need YOUR voice. We need YOUR experience. We need YOUR help.

We want Cedarwood to be a community centre that is truly accessible and welcoming to EVERYONE, and the people best placed to tell us what needs to change are the people who experience those barriers themselves.

On Thursday 10th September, we’re working with Disability North to hold an Accessibility Workshop at Cedarwood.

We’re inviting disabled people, wheelchair users, people with mobility difficulties, carers and anyone with lived experience of accessibility barriers to come along, walk through our building and tell us what works, what doesn’t and what needs to change.

This isn’t about us deciding what people need. It’s about LISTENING TO YOU.

YOUR experiences, ideas and feedback can directly help shape the future of Cedarwood and make our centre more accessible for everyone.

📅 Thursday 10th September
⏰ 10:00am till 1:00pm
📍 Cedarwood Trust, Avon Avenue, North Shields, NE29 7QT

Please come along and make your voice heard. Help us build a more accessible Cedarwood. 💚

WE BELIEVE IN WORKING TOGETHER 💜

No single charity can solve food insecurity alone.

Real change happens when communities come together.

Schools.

Health services.

Housing providers.

Local authorities.

Businesses.

Charities.

Volunteers.

Together, we're creating a stronger support network for families across the North East.

More than food. A way forward. 💜

This week my theme is the yogic principle of Ahimsa - known as non-harming. It can sound like a big idea, but it’s not really…

🔹Ahimsa can be the way we speak to ourselves when we make a mistake.
🔹It can be noticing when we’re pushing ourselves because we think we should.
🔹 It can be choosing rest without feeling guilty.
🔹 It can be how we speak to someone when we’re frustrated or overwhelmed.

Non harm doesn’t mean we have to be endlessly nice, perfect or passive. Sometimes ahimsa means having a boundary or saying no. Sometimes it means choosing what’s kind rather than what’s comfortable.

Can I move through this practice with a little less force and a little more awareness? Can I notice where I’m coming from today and what’s influencing me? Is there judgement? Comparison? Expectation? Can I establish what feels supportive for my body and mind today?

Different moments call for different things, so the yoga class is just a wellbeing tool really so we can understand ourselves a little bit more 💕

Where could you use a little less force and a little more kindness today?
▪️Maybe it’s the expectations you have of yourself.
▪️Maybe it’s towards your energy levels.
▪️Maybe it’s towards another person.
▪️Maybe it’s simply giving yourself permission to chill with a cup of ☕️ (which is what I’m going to do now!)

Love Steph x
