🔨 Complete Outdoor Space Transformation: Custom Bathroom Extension Built From Scratch! 🏡

I recently completed a highly rewarding structural project, building a bespoke external bathroom extension from the ground up to add valuable extra space and utility to a property. Taking care of every phase myself—from the initial structural modifications to the final crisp external finishes—I turned a simple window opening into a fully insulated, premium modern extension.
Here is a breakdown of how I executed this project:
• Structural Entry Opening: I carefully knocked out and modified the existing brick window junction, using heavy-duty acrow props to safely support the masonry load while creating a spacious new structural entryway leading straight from the main house.
• Groundwork & Drainage Overhaul: Before building upward, I handled the essential groundwork. I excavated the site and installed a brand-new, dedicated waste drainage connection for the upcoming shower zone, routing it directly into the main drainage manhole for zero hassle.
• C24 Timber Framework: I engineered and erected a high-strength, lightweight external timber carcass using premium treated 4x2" and 6x2" C24 structural timber.
• Premium Thermal Insulation: To guarantee maximum comfort and warmth, I wrapped and filled the extension walls and floor structure with a minimum of 75mm high-performance Celotex insulation boards, sealing the envelope completely from the elements.
• Solid Flooring & Triple Glazing: I laid down a rock-solid subfloor using 22mm moisture-proof chipboard over the floor insulation layer. For maximum efficiency, I also installed a high-quality, openable triple-glazed uPVC obscure window (610x965mm).
• High-End Weatherboarding & Render Finishing: Externally, I sheeted the frame with robust 18mm OSB boards and wrapped it in a high-grade roofing membrane. I then finished the exterior walls with premium, highly durable fibre-cement cladding panels and matching corner trims for a sleek, modern, low-maintenance finish.
• Professional Slate Roof & Rainwater Kit: I constructed a durable pitched roof using clean roofing membrane, treated timber battens, and premium fibre-cement slates. To secure the boundary junctions permanently against water ingress, I dressed brand-new 240mm Code 3 lead flashing into the brick wall mortar joints, finishing the roofline with a clean black fascia board and a high-flow downpipe and gutter kit.
Every detail of this build—including all skilled labour, premium materials, and thorough waste disposal—was managed entirely by myself to guarantee a highly stable, watertight, and stunning final addition. The client was absolutely over the moon with the craftsmanship and the complete layout change!

🔨 Front Porch Structural Rebuild – Safely Secured & Fully Transformed! 🏡

I recently took on a critical project where a front porch roof structure was heavily twisting and completely detaching from the main house wall. The culprit? The original timber support posts had completely rotted away at and below ground level, leaving the entire clay-tile roof highly unstable and dangerous.
I stepped in with a controlled dismantle, full structural redesign, and complete reconstruction to make it rock-solid for the long term.
Here is how I fixed it:
• Controlled Dismantle & Salvage: Safely accessed the roof via scaffold platforms to strip and save the original clay tiles for reuse, saving the client money.
• Upgraded Foundation & Groundwork: Excavated the brick paving and dug out the rotten timber bases. I upgraded the framing to massive heavy-duty 6x6" structural post, treating the below-ground timber with a premium preservative and a thick, protective layer of waterproof bitumen paint before setting them deep in high-strength concrete.
• C24 Structural Timber Framework: Engineered a brand-new roof carcass using premium C24 structural treated timber, securely anchored directly into the masonry using heavy-duty concrete screws.
• Premium Finishes: Finished the underside ceiling and gables with pressure-treated Tongue & Groove (T&G) timber cladding, safely re-routing the lighting cables first-fix behind the panels.
• Weatherproofing & Tiling: Installed a high-performance breathable roof membrane with fresh timber battens. I re-laid the salvaged clay tiles, dressed brand-new lead flashing seamlessly into the wall, and upgraded the rainwater system with a new uPVC guttering layout.

The property was suffering from long-term leaks caused by multiple installation errors from previous sub-standard workmanship, including blocked vents and improperly cut membranes. Our team stripped back the failed layers, upgraded the timber substrate, and executed a seamless, commercial-grade EPDM rubber tie-in.
Delivered Works & Solutions:
• Strip-Out & Source Remediation: Completely removed compromised lead wall flashing and cut back the failed EPDM membrane along the main house wall to relieve trapped moisture and prevent future condensation.
• Carpentry & Substrate Upgrade: Rebuilt the damaged wall junction area down to the frame using precision-cut 9mm structural plywood, mechanically anchored deep into the existing roof joists with heavy-duty structural wood screws.
• Advanced EPDM Chemical Tie-In: Deep-cleaned and stripped the existing weathered EPDM membrane with Acetone to remove heavy oxidation. Fully bonded a premium 1.5mm commercial-grade EPDM rubber membrane over the new substrate, permanently vulcanising the old and new sections using a 3-inch pressure-sensitive cured splice tape system.
• New Code 3 Lead Flashing: Cleaned out the brickwork mortar joints and engineered a brand-new Code 3 lead flashing strip, mechanically locked into the wall and fully weatherproofed with low-modulus silicone sealant.
• Perimeter & Kerb Reconstruction: Dismantled defective front corners and built out correctly proportioned new timber kerb edges complete with matching drip trims to guarantee a functional, modern weathering seal.
Following final testing, the flat roof is verified as completely watertight, structurally sound, and perfectly detailed to full industry standards.

The existing, outdated conservatory-style structure, laminate flooring, and old wooden deck were carefully dismantled and responsibly recycled. Our team then engineered a robust, long-lasting structural timber deck built to the highest possible standards.

• Complete Demolition & Clever Waste Management: Safely removed old polycarbonate roofing, internal gutters, double-glazed windows, and radiators. All timber from the old deck was sorted separately to take advantage of recycling rates and keep project costs down.

Another transformation completed under the staircase area.
The customer wanted the plain white wall covered and the office door hidden, while also improving soundproofing. I designed and installed a modern slatted‑wood feature wall that blends perfectly into the space and disguises the door, giving the whole area a clean, seamless look.

The combination of timber slats and acoustic backing not only upgrades the style of the room but also reduces noise coming from the office. A simple idea with a big impact — turning an awkward corner into a standout feature.

Another job completed! The old decking was completely rotten and unsafe, so it had to go straight to the skip yard.
I rebuilt this one properly from the ground up so it lasts for years.
Here is what went into this fresh build:
• Ripped out and cleared away the old unsafe deck
• Laid down heavy-duty w**d control membrane
• Built a brand new solid frame using treated 4x2 C24 timber
• Supported with strong 4x4 posts and lots of heavy-duty screws
• Finished off with premium 6-inch grooved decking boards
Now the garden is safe, clean, and completely ready to use!

Just finished up this full decking project. The old structure needed some serious love, so I stripped it back and rebuilt it properly from the ground up.
