𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗶𝘁

On this property, we carried out maintenance works to the chimney to help prevent future issues and improve long-term protection. Open dormant chimney pots were capped, the top of the chimney was cemented, and the pointing to the top of the stack was replaced where required.

These types of repairs may not always be visible from ground level, but they play an important role in helping keep moisture out and maintaining the integrity of the chimney over time.

A little preventative maintenance now can help avoid more costly repairs later.

𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 - We recently carried out remedial works after discovering that plasterboard had been fixed directly onto brickwork, allowing moisture to draw through and causing damp issues over time.

To resolve the problem properly, the affected materials were removed and the area was treated and rebuilt using the correct method before being rendered and plastered.

𝗟𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝘂𝘁 - We recently attended a property where plasterboards had to be removed from the ceiling of a makeshift loft conversion after significant mould and condensation issues were discovered.

The problem had been caused by a combination of inadequate insulation and non-breathable roofing felt, which prevented proper airflow within the roof space. This trapped moisture over time, leading to heavy condensation build-up and widespread mould growth.

By stripping the affected ceiling back, we were able to expose the underlying issues and begin the process of correcting the ventilation and insulation problems properly.

Issues like this are a reminder of how important correct loft conversion design and ventilation are in preventing long-term damage and unhealthy living conditions.
